The Strategic Performance management intern will work under the direct supervision of the Country Director, to assist in developing CO (Country Office) performance management system, database and its tracking with 13 different units in Conakry head office and 8 field offices to assure that the overall WFP CO's key objectives are met in time.
- Provide strategic and operational support to the CD office, especially by assisting in designing, developing and updating performance management tracking system and real time dashboard.
- Carry out performance related data gathering and analyses with each team in the Conakry head office and field offices.
- Support teams in enhancing the quality of monthly performance snapshots and use a tracking system to systematically review and follow up on different units' activities and key indicators.
- Promote the MBO (Management by Objectives) and RBM (Result Based Management) and provide relevant guidance and trainings.
- Collaborate on various projects and tasks, working closely with different team managers and participating in meetings/projects.

a. Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme (for example, Bachelorโs degree) from a recognised university and have completed at least two years of the programme. Candidates should have attended classes in the past 12 months
b. Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme (for example, Master degree) from a recognised university and have attended classes in the past 12 months;
c. Be a recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognised university and have attended classes in the last 12 months of enrolment in the university.
SUPERVISION (Level/Methods of Supervision)
Under the direct supervision of the CD, the intern will be provided with one-on-one technical supervision, skills development, and mentoring. Supervision will include performance planning, follow ups and review, as well as learning and development discussions, as appropriate. With the support of a comprehensive induction package and assignment of a supervisor, the intern will become a productive member of the team.
Training Components:
Throughout their assignment WFPโs interns have access to an industry-leading learning platform, WeLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops, seminars and field missions, as appropriate.
Learning Elements:
At the end of the assignment, the intern would be expected to have improved their skills in the following areas:
1. Performance management skills,
2. Data collection and analysis.
3. Understanding WFP field operation and CO key strategies. Learn how to support units and strengthen key performance.
4. Concise infographic drafting skills; and
5. Inter-personal skills required for working in a dynamic office, dealing with in-house clients, and maneuvering in a large UN organization.
Education:
Major in International Relations, Public Relations, Communications, Political science, Social Science, statistics, Management or another relevant field
Experience:
Ability to work independently and in teams; Excellent problem-solving skills and bring a positive attitude; with a background and interest in international humanitarian development.
Computer literacy with good knowledge of Excel, PPT, dashboard and infographic related software.
Knowledge & Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to persuade, and influence.
Knowledge of common business principes and processes and the ability to quickly assimilate UN/WFP specific processes and systems.Ability to analyze and interpret information, identify trends, and provide solutions. Ability to rapidly analyze and integrate diverse information.
Languages:
Fluency in level C) in English and French language skill is an asset.
