DRC MERO

Danish Refugee Council is a leading humanitarian agency pursuing our mandate to protect and promote durable solutions to displacement-affected populations based on humanitarian principles. DRC applies a regional approach with operational presence in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey & Yemen with a Middle East Regional Office (MERO) based in Amman, Jordan, which has 30 staff. Overall in the region DRC Middle East has more than 1,800 staff and an operating budget of USD 120 million.

About the job:

The overall role of the EORE Project Coordinator is to provide oversight and ensure implementation of all EORE activities implemented by DRC directly and with the local partner in the oPt that includes: 1) training, education and awareness on EO and safe behavior, resulting in reduced risk-taking behavior within the conflict-affected communities 2) supervision, coaching (remote/in-person) of implementing teams (DRC and partners; 3) overall oversight on EORE activities across all relevant projects, participation in coordination mechanisms, donor reporting and fundraising.

Responsibilities:

Technical Oversight and Supervision

Prepare and conduct training for EORE facilitators and team leaders of partner staff. ; Conduct refresher training for EORE facilitators and ensure the skills of the EORE facilitators are according to applicable internal and international standards. Technical supervision and oversight of partner staff and ensure that the tasked EORE activities are carried out in the field. Prepare and ensure that the team has the necessary materials and other equipment to carry out the designated activities.

Planning, monitoring & quality management

Initiate, plan and coordinate EORE in targeted communities with partner organizations. Support the coordination and leading of needsโ€™ assessment, baseline surveys and data collection in the field. Analyze data on EORE by the teams and provide analysis on KAP. Conduct regular Quality Assurance (QA). Act as budget manager for the project.

Coordination

Liaise with local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the EORE activities were possible. Maintain good communication and coordination with partner organization. Maintain good coordination with other humanitarian mine action organizations and relevant partners implementing in Gaza. Maintain good relationships and communication with other mine action interventions (UN and INGOs) in the area with those involved in EORE to ensure good coordination and shared knowledge. Maintain proactive engagement in relevant coordination mechanisms.

Reporting

Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly work plans. Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly reports. Prepare donor reports. Ensure that all reports from the field are properly completed and submitted in a timely fashion. Ensure timely reporting to the Emergency Manager, donors, other relevant stakeholders, and HDP Regional Coordinator. Keep monthly records of EORE teamsโ€™ progress and activities. Undertake any other tasks as required by Emergency Manager.

Minimum 4 yearsโ€™ experience in EORE within humanitarian mine action programs. Prior experience working with NGO is an asset. Excellent working knowledge of International Mine Action Standards and experience in drafting standard operating procedures and training management plans. Knowledge of Mines and other EOs encountered in the Middle East region. Proven experience and knowledge of information management and analysis, IMSMA is an asset. Good writing skills in reporting and proposal development. Ability to work away from home within remote environments for extended periods of time. Excellent discipline with the ability to follow direct instructions. Team-player who accepts DRC lines of management and is able to command authority him/herself. Well-organized, proactive, flexible, and trustworthy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Computer literate, MS Office, and DRC Dynamic.

Languages:

Fluent in English both spoken and written. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.

Education:

University degree or equivalent in a relevant field.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council โ€“Terms of Employment for Expat or National staff. This position will be placed in Non-Management (G1) band.
