The People Development Team
The People Development team designs and implements programs and systems that increase engagement and elevate learning for all Mercy Corps team members globally. Within the People Development team, the Learning & Leadership team delivers leadership development programs and supports professional development opportunities and resources for all Mercy Corps team members globally.

The Position
The Global Leadership Program Manager will be an integral member of the Learning & Leadership team, focused on supporting the leadership development programs. They will have primary responsibility for implementation of the Next Generation Leadership Program, as well as overseeing the Women in Leadership program. They will provide targeted management and leadership coordination across our three leadership programs, including budgeting, program design, and engaging with leadership program alums.

  • Manage the Next Generation Leadership Program including design, participant selection, program implementation, monitoring, and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with instructional partners, participants, and key stakeholders for Next Generation and Women in Leadership programs.
  • Oversee all logistical and administrative components of Next Generation.
  • Support curriculum development and delivery for Next Generation and Women in Leadership.
  • Provide ongoing support to participants focused on access, engagement, and wellbeing.
  • Ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of leadership programs.
  • Provide program follow-up support to alums. Operational Coordination
    • Ensure consistency and quality across all Leadership Development programs.
    • Provide overall operational management to the Learning & Leadership team, including using appropriate and future-thinking technology and platforms to propel programming forward.
    • Support coordination and facilitation of Learning & Leadership portfolio planning meetings, program sessions, and partnership meetings, including support around scheduling, agenda tracking, and communications.
    • Manage application and review process for all leadership development programs. Communication & Partnerships
      • Maintain valuable relationships with key stakeholders and external partners in collaboration with program leads. Prepare drafts and outlines for internal and external reporting and proposals.
      • Organize the communication outreach plans for the leadership portfolios including email, globe articles, Workplace, presentations, and other channels and tools.
      • Maintain and update SharePoint and intranet pages, and other channels as appropriate.
      • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders in support of Leadership & Learning at Mercy Corps.

        Reports Directly To: Director of Learning & Leadership
        Works Directly With: Senior Director of People Development, Program Officers for People Development, leadership programs cohort members, senior leaders and stakeholders

        Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders
        Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of our field projects.

        Minimum Qualifications & Transferable Skills
        • BA, MA or comparable experience in relevant field โ€“ learning background preferred.
        • Mercy Corps Leadership Program Alum preferred.
        • 5-7 years relevant professional experience including outstanding project management experience.
        • Knowledge and experience in training and professional & leadership development opportunities preferred.
        • Strong communication and story-telling skills, ability to facilitate collaboration between different teams.
        • Demonstrated capacity to utilize analytics and technology and manage learning platforms in order to support learning and development programs.
        • Ability to communicate and problem-solve effectively across diverse cultures and geography with sensitivity.
        • Experience managing and hosting virtual trainings, webinars, and interactive discussions.
        • 2-4 years' experience working in a global environment strongly preferred. Success Factors

          Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
          This position can be in any Mercy Corps Location, with a preference for Jordan, Kenya, or the UK. Should international travel be required, Mercy Corps team members represent the organization both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting. Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and Mercy Corpsโ€™ policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.
