The GIS Division in the Data & Analytics Department of FHI 360 is seeking applicants for a GIS Analyst position as we expand our group. This person should have a desire to use their geospatial and quantitative skills to support human development projects in health, education, and civil society. The job will require working with senior staff on multiple projects that range from HIV and TB programs, laboratory network strengthening, maternal and child health access, neglected tropical disease mapping, and education teams. The work will involve supporting all stages of research projects and providing technical assistance to country and global programs; and will require this person to create data entry forms, manage databases, create interactive maps in ArcGIS Online, conduct geospatial modelling and analyses in ArcPro, and help with report writing.
Job Summary:
Performs research development with senior research staff to develop, implement, manage, and conduct research studies and support program teams. Makes detailed evaluations, observations, analyzes data and interprets results using geospatial tools, quantitative methods, and statistics. Investigates, creates, and develops new methods and technologies for project advancement. Works with senior research staff and program teams to develop and implement geospatial approaches for non-clinical research studies. Provides input on the best ways to obtain accurate information from study participants and programmatic data in ways that address research and program objectives and permit data-based conclusions. Works with diverse teams on multiple projects at once.
Accountabilities:
Research/Technical
Supports senior staff with collection, management, and analysis of quantitative geospatial data from research projects and program activities.
Conducts geospatial analyses and supports geospatial modelling activities using ArcGIS and other technologies.
Manages data on ArcGIS Online and creates interactive maps.
May utilize MS Excel as well as programming languages to like Python or R for data processing or management.
Conducts literature reviews with minimal guidance from senior staff.
Supports senior staff in the development of study documents, including drafting informed consent forms and collaborating on drafting data collection tools and sections of study protocols.
Programs simple to moderately complex surveys.
Develops training materials with guidance from senior staff; may collaborate on or co-lead trainings for study implementation.
Monitors data as it comes in from the field for completeness and accuracy.
Develops codebook for quantitative datasets; obtains, merges, and cleans quantitative datasets.
Conducts descriptive analyses using statistical software with minimal oversight; fills in table shells and may suggest additional analyses based on understanding of data.
Conducts more sophisticated analyses involving regressions, scale creation, or application of complex sampling designs with substantial oversight from senior staff.
Prepares datasets and associated documentation for public data sharing; may verify results from descriptive analyses conducted by others prior to publication.
Supports preparation of dissemination materials, including data visualizations for various audiences, and coordinates internal reviews.
Supports new business development efforts.
Project Management/Coordination
Manages communications with the study team and field-based data collection team(s).
May include planning and managing team meetings, documenting key decisions and tracking action items.
Tracks study progress and timelines; identifies and communicates potential problems to field team, under appropriate supervision.
Performs other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
3+ years of research or evaluation experience.
Prior experience in global public health preferred.
Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Public Health or a Related Fields. Masterโs Degree preferred.
Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) preferred.
Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors, and prepare reports.
Experience with ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online and other geospatial software required.
Experience with quantitative software required.
Experience programming surveys for electronic data collection using preferred software.
Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for conducting research studies under government regulations.
Effective communications in information shared by ensuring attention is paid to the specific components (i.e., formatting) of the communication, successful delivery, and accountability for specific components (i.e., keeping timelines updated).
Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English, fluent in host country language as appropriate.
French language skills preferred but not required.

Pay Equity and Benefits:
The expected hiring salary range for this role is listed below. FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
Hiring Salary Range: $60,000 - 74,000
