We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Education Advisor for the upcoming FCDO UK Support for Girls' Education and Improved Learning in Ethiopia.
Project Description
FCDO UK Support for Girls' Education and Improved Learning in Ethiopia (2024-2029) is a new bilateral education programme in Ethiopia due to be tendered late August/early September 2024. The programme will improve access for marginalized groups to education, improve retention and transition rates, improve learning outcomes, and improve school capacity and capability. The programme will operate across three pillars: 1) School leadership support, 2) English language, and 3) Equity and Inclusion.
Summary of Role
The advisor will make connections and build relationships between schools, teacher training institutes, communities, woreda offices, zonal education offices, and regional education bureaus to identify efficiencies, improve practice, and lesson share.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Masterโs degree.
National/Ethiopian, with fluency in English and Amharic.
Experience in successfully delivering education programmes of similar complexity.
Ability to work effectively, collaboratively and develop constructive relationships with government, at both strategic/policy and service delivery levels including positive influencing skills.
Local knowledge and networks in Ethiopia ensuring that strong working relationships are maintained with academic institutions, civil society, and other development partners.
Sufficient understanding of education delivery through different channels, and education systems reform in Ethiopia, together with an understanding of the political, cultural context and challenges in Ethiopia.
Computer literacy with standard business software (including Word, Excel and Power Point).
Experience with FCDO-funded programs.
Willingness to travel within project region/country 80% of his/her work time.
