What we are looking forย 

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic Director of Institutional Partnerships.ย The Director of Institutional Partnership is part of the management team of the Partnerships and Policy department and reports to the Executive Director. The Departmentโ€™s role is to lead, manage, support and set standards for NRC's global advocacy work and partnerships with institutional donors, define NRCโ€™s positions on key humanitarian policy issues, establish and manage strategic partnerships with UN agencies and NGOs, and consolidate and further develop NRCโ€™s Representation Offices and the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC).

As Director of Institutional Partnerships, you will be responsible for the development of NRCโ€™s global strategy, policies and procedures related to fundraising from and engagement withย institutional donors and other key partners.ย NRC has a diverse donor base of more than 40 institutional donors, with the Norwegian MFA, USAID BHA, ECHO, UNHCR, OCHA, German FFO and Sida among the largest partners.ย 

What you will doย 

Overall responsible for strategy development and positioning regarding existing institutional donors, as well as new and non-traditional donors. This includes further developing NRCโ€™s strategy for diversifying its donor base and expanding its capacity to secure and deliver large-scale grants, commercial contracts and lead consortia. Provide strategic guidance to enhance synergies across partnerships with key donors and identify innovative ways to build new partnerships.ย  Overall responsible for the NRCโ€˜s global support function related to institutional donors. This includes, for example, developing and defining policies, guidelines and procedures and ensuring that efficient systems are in place for timely and relevant advice and support to NRC staff, including on donor regulations and compliance.ย  Technical reporting line from all the Institutional Partnership Advisers in the Partnerships and Policy Department for the purpose of further streamlining NRCโ€™s approaches, practices, processes, tools, standards, training and regular information sharing on relations with institutional donors and related areas.ย  Drive the departmentโ€™s work to streamline and simplify internal administrative and compliance procedures for partnerships with national and local actors and lead NRCโ€™s advocacy with donors to promote policies and procedures that facilitate more equitable partnerships.ย  Provide the overall direction for NRCโ€™s relations with any institutional donors not explicitly falling under the responsibility of any of the Institutional Partnership Advisers.ย

ย What you will bring

Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience with at least 5 years of relevant senior management experience within the humanitarian fieldย  Outstanding communication, representation and interpersonal skillsย  Proven ability to develop and implement solid institutional and organisational strategiesย  Professional knowledge of humanitarian principlesย  Fluency in English and ideally Norwegian/Scandinavian languages, both written and verbalย
