The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) is the worldโ€™s leading organization in helping and protecting the millions of people forced to flee their homes because of violence, conflict, and persecution. We deliver life-saving assistance, including shelter, food and water while also safeguarding fundamental human rights, safety, and dignity.

The Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) sits within UNHCRโ€™s Division of External Relations (DER) and is responsible for mobilizing resources and other forms of support from the private sector. UNHCR has developed a Private Sector Fundraising Strategy with the goal of raising $1 billion annually from the private sector. This strategy focuses on both Individual Giving (IG) and partnership and private philanthropy (PPH).

Individual Giving (IG) is targeted at the public to secure the support of individuals through regular, unrestricted donations, cash appeals and legacies. The aim is to generate both monthly and one-time donations from individuals using various channels and methods including direct mail, face-to-face fundraising, telemarketing, digital fundraising, DRTV and emergency fundraising, with focus on strong donor loyalty and lifetime value. Some markets in the Americas are currently using or creating regional or local instances of Salesforce as their main CRM, which will integrate with a global data warehouse, e-commerce, and automated marketing tools.

The Private Partnership and Philanthropy (PPH) section of PSP develops and strengthens long-term partnerships with companies, foundations, and high-net worth individuals. This includes leveraging the capacities of this segment to build long lasting partnerships that goes beyond resources but expands to
advocacy, communications, marketing, and public engagement.

Purpose and Scope of Assignment
The PSP Data Analysis Officer will support the regional fundraising strategy by leading and being responsible for the analysis of primary and secondary data for interpretation and informed decision making. The analyst will identify risks and opportunities based on insights derived from data from the region.

PSP Americas is looking to recruit an experienced analyst to support the regional PSP team and PSP markets in the Americas with advanced dashboarding, audience analysis, prospecting and fundraising reporting to support testing and optimization, increasing lifetime value, retention activities, budget decisions, marketing activity and, ultimately, fundraising income.

The post holder will collaborate closely with the PSP Regional Americas team, national fundraising markets (Canada, Mexico, Brazil), and National Fundraising Partners in Argentina and USA โ€“ as well as with business insight and database experts in the region and at HQ, and with external vendors.

Weโ€™re looking for someone with experience in marketing who is passionate about drawing business insights. This role will support us in making informed marketing and budget decisions to support the delivery of UNHCR private sector fundraising, data strategy and data literacy across the Americas

Adherence to the values of UNHCR, and leadership to engage with fundraising experts is critical to meet the ambition of this position and to the delivery of the PSP Regional strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Senior PSP Officer Americas, the incumbent is expected to:

Fundraising analysis and support
โ€ข In close collaboration with fundraising and data specialists at the HQ, Regional and national level, ensure stronger fundraising analysis and better annual and long-term plans are developed leading to improved lifetime value and ROI.
โ€ข Improve data quality through direct support, capacity building, monitoring and feedback
โ€ข Provide strategic and technical support for marketing analysis recommendations to Americas โ€˜emerging marketsโ€™ optimizing results and supporting business cases for long-term investment and growth.
โ€ข Support in the development of marketing dashboards for both regional and markets. Develop standard reports and benchmarking across markets and regions.
โ€ข Complete regular campaign analysis, gathering insights to inform fundraising strategies, identify areas of improvement and advice on targeting and prompting.
โ€ข Support the launch of new fundraising projects to ensure impact and response can be tracked effectively.
โ€ข Ensure that documentation is created for any new configuration, new reports set up and integration with third parties.
โ€ข Work closely with national and regional specialists to monitor, assess and validate data consistency and quality to deliver accurate regional and market analysis and actionable insights.
โ€ข Perform data profiling to identify and understand anomalies. Communicate the status, value and importance of data and information. Recommend forecasting solutions and models, scenario planning, resource modelling, and other similar โ€˜what ifโ€™ type analyses.
โ€ข Support PSP annual planning including National Growth Fundraising applications and quarterly reporting exercises across the Americas markets and best allocation of resources.
โ€ข Coordinate and enhance internal/external benchmarking and channel performance audits across Americas markets including Lifetime Value and other external benchmarking.
โ€ข Participate in market reviews, market entry and other strategy and analysis projects including PPH market, prospect and donor research as required.
โ€ข Run other reports and analysis as required.
Capacity Building/Training
โ€ข Provide training and support to fundraising practitioners on analysis, technical set up, data systems, building dashboards, reporting, and support capacity building as per market needs.
โ€ข Organise and foster the exchange of best practices across markets and with counterparts in other regions and markets.

Data Strategy
โ€ข Manage the implementation of the PSP Data Strategy across markets in Americas and the redevelopment of local data strategies.
โ€ข Ensure alignment of the local data strategies with PSP Data Strategy including definitions, reporting standards and platform KPIโ€™s.
โ€ข Define and build viable analytics and reporting framework and dashboards depending on maturity levels of each market.
โ€ข Oversee and support Salesforce and other marketing tech stack implementations focusing on the development of database driven analysis and reports and building local capacity to engage with the analytical environment. To include data from data warehouse/lake and other sources of data.
โ€ข Support the creation and maintenance of market specific, channel specific reports and dashboards for ongoing reporting.
โ€ข Ensure that documentation is created/updated upon changes in the configuration of the database to ensure new reports are set up and integration with third parties.
โ€ข Ensure data governance and maintained in compliance with UNHCR and local regulations.

3. Monitoring and Progress Controls

4. Qualifications and Experience

Minimum requirement: University degree in Economics/Business Administration/Business Analytics/Data Analytics or relevant discipline.

b. Work Experience

Essential
โ€ข Minimum 6 years relevant experience with Undergraduate/bachelorโ€™s degree (or 5 years relevant experience with Graduate/Masterโ€™s degree).
โ€ข Work experience in areas of Data Science, Finance, Programme, Information Management or other relevant Sales and Marketing Fields. Demonstrated ability to create insightful data and evidence based BI reporting, manage a data/BI capability, and engage with users a management and fundraising practitionerโ€™s level.
โ€ข Experience in handling and analysing large data sets from multiple sources.
โ€ข Ability to spot trends and patterns and interpreting the meaning behind them.
โ€ข Experience in CRM database systems, data warehouse, data modelling, propensity modelling, business intelligence, data visualisation, and analysis.
โ€ข Understanding of and adherence to Data Protection and relevant legislation.
โ€ข Proven project management experience
