Background (Project Background)
Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is a global project funded by the Presidentโs Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with a period of performance from April 15, 2019 to December 30, 2027. EpiC is designed to break through persistent barriers to the 95-95-95 goals and promote self-reliant management of national HIV programs. In response to mission and country needs, EpiC rapidly delivers efficient, affordable, results-based technical assistance (TA) and direct service delivery (DSD) tailored to context and epidemiology that are effective in surging, scaling, and sustaining HIV services and systems for long-term epidemic control.
Job Summary
A Community Engagement Coordinator is needed to support EpiC work in community strengthening, specifically among adolescents, youth, young people and young key populations (young men who have sex with men and young trans women). The CE Coordinator will play a key role in engaging these communities and ensuring their representation and participation in the EpiC HIV program.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Community Engagement Officer in the development and implementation of EpiCโs community strengthening strategies, especially those involving young key populations.
Assist the Community Engagement Officer in working with the Program, Technical, and Strategic Information sub-teams for youth-related implementation strategies.
Propose innovative community engagement and SBCC strategies to intensify demand for HIV and HIV-adjacent services, including mental health and transgender health, among young key populations.
Map youth-led and youth-serving groups, organizations, and networks within EpiC sites to strategically identify areas for collaboration and facilitate efficient engagement.
Lead the creation and supervision of EpiCโs youth advisory board to better inform project direction and realize active participation of young key populations in HIV programming.
Document EpiCโs community engagement efforts and monitor indicators in the Community Engagement framework.
Disseminate capacity strengthening and project implementation opportunities to EpiC community partners on a regular basis.
Ensure the meaningful and ethical engagement of young key populations in all EpiC-initiated and supported activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding public health issues among key populations in the Philippines.
Ability to manage and complete numerous tasks with a high degree of organization and limited resources.
Experience working with community-based organizations or civil society organizations, experience in project support and administration preferred.
Experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different organizations and cultures.
Ability to meet deadlines with strong attention to consistency, detail, and quality.
Working Conditions and Travel Requirements
ยทApproximately 20% of work involves travel (NCR, Region 3, Region 4A)
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required, or at least two years college education in a related field and two years relevant work experience in community engagement.
6 months to 2 yearsโ relevant experience in community-based organizations, non-government organizations, or civil society organizations.
Prior work experience on HIV/KP-focused programs preferred; prior work on USAID funded programs is a plus
