Communications Officer

The Vanuatu Community-based Climate Resilience Project (VCCRP) is the largest community-based adaptation project ever delivered in the Pacific. It has been designed to reduce the climate-related vulnerabilities of communities across all six provinces of Vanuatu.

The project will be managed by a Project Management Unit (PMU) embedded in the Ministry of Climate Change’s (MoCC) Department of Climate Change (DoCC) with diverse project activities across other Government departments, delivered by Department of Local Authorities (DLA) community representative leads, in partnership with Save the Children Vanuatu.

Where you come in:

Reporting to the Project Team Leader and located within the DoCC in MoCC, you will be responsible for gathering, and sharing high-quality, authentic stories that effectively communicate the impact of the VCCRP on communities ensuring, producing, and sharing high quality media releases and we meet our reporting obligations to donors within the MoCC and Save the Children.

You will make an impact by:

· Support program in coordinating communication related activities and interface within the project and between key implementing partners or stakeholders on communications activities.

· Engage with the GCF and MoCC to ensure all communications strategies, activities and outputs align with donor expectations and branding and visibility requirements in collaboration with Save the Children Vanuatu.

· Providing advice, training, upskilling, coaching & mentoring to PMU and MOCC stakeholders in quality content generation that complies with Save the Children, MoCC and GCF policies and procedures in relation to donor compliance.

· Act in a safe manner always, including complying with all safety instructions and training given at the workplace.

· Maintaining a child safe environment at the workplace and safeguard children’s rights, always acting in the best interests of children by complying with the Child Safeguarding Code of Conduct and child safeguarding and protection policies and standards.

Does this sound like you?

You have photography and content creation skills, passionate and ability to advocate for children by providing visibility and key issues in relation to climate change, in line with Project, partner, & organisation strategy, with Coordination & training skills and teamwork.

This role requires:

· Experience in photography and producing high quality stories of impact/change and multimedia products for media and marketing purposes.

· Experience leading and coordinating program communication strategies.

· Demonstrated ability to write case studies, press releases, and other communication materials appropriate for an NGO stakeholder audience.

· Demonstrate commitment to child safeguarding, child protection, gender equality and social inclusion principles.

· Strong written and visual communication skills in English and Bislama.

· Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically to implement communications and strategies.

· Strong understanding of the Vanuatu media – including social media and ability to cultivate relationships with media outlets and communications contractors.

· Demonstrated skills in photography and writing engaging content.

· Familiar with Microsoft office and social media platforms

· Self-motivated and works well under pressure with completing deadlines.
