IUCN Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) is seeking to recruit a Communications Intern for the SADC TFCA Financing Facilities, starting 1 September 2023. The Communications Intern will serve for a period of 6 months. The position is based in South Africa, with occasional travels to the field in the SADC region. The position reports to IUCN ESARO Regional Communications and Constituency Manager, with a functional reporting line to the Team Leader, SADC TFCA Financing Facilities. JOB DESCRIPTION SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Strategy, Content Development and Digital Media;
Develop a Communication Workplan in line with the SADC TFCA FF Communication Strategy
Support in developing content to positively position the SADC TFCA FF and demonstrate its impact. This includes contributing to thought leadership, web content, multimedia content, email campaigns and printed materials contributing to timely and impactful delivery;
Liaise with the SADC TFCA FF team to identify potential events, milestones or activities that can be leveraged across 360-communication execution
Support in producing content/materials for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and in-depth articles / thought leadership pieces of SADC TFCA FF to be published (website/external media) per quarter;
Help manage current and potentially develop future digital platforms including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and website; develop and update an editorial calendar
Support production of information pamphlets/brochures and other branded materials for the SADC TFCA FF in compliance with donor visibility requirements;
Support SADC TFCA FF Project Management unit in capturing and collecting content for success stories as well as production of communication materials linked to specific projects (photos, videos, infographics);
Create an archive of SADC TFCA creative materials including photographs, videos, and stories
Support the implementation of communication action plans for grantees;
Provide input to regional and country level communication initiatives when required;
Produce a monthly Communication report demonstrating key deliverables

Media and Events;
Develop a directory of media outlets, including media associations, relevant to the SADC TFCA FF
Pitch story angles to the media related to the SADC TFCA FF including its Grantees
Provide branding support for SADC TFCA FF events including producing banners, posters and facilitating media stories;
Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time. REQUIREMENTS โ€ข POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education;
Degree in Communication or Journalism or any other relevant discipline, from a recognised academic institution โ€“ Recent graduate preferred

Language Proficiency;
Excellent command of English and strong verbal and written communication skills
