FHI 360 is currently recruiting for the position of [position title] for an anticipated five-year USAID project, \"Building the Enabling Environment for Resilient Communities and Sustainable Livelihoods in the Mbomou-Uele Region,\" with a budget of between $10-$24.99 million. The anticipated objective of this activity is to: (1) increase resilience of the local communities in MbomouUele region, (2) improve living conditions among the transhumant and sedentary population and
(3) secure conservation and management of ecosystems.
Job Summary:
The Chief of Party (COP) will be responsible for providing overall vision, leadership, and guidance of the project. S/he will be the projectโs main point of contact for USAID and all other stakeholders. The COP will also be responsible for overall project management and technical operations to ensure that project tasks are completed, and project objectives are successfully met. The position is expected to be located in Bangui, CAR.
Essential Job Functions: Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead FHI 360โs in-country project team and serve as the primary point of contact with USAID regarding the day-to-day activity implementation and management matters relating to the project;
- Ensure that all assistance provided by the project is technically sound and appropriate for the needs to be addressed;
- Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and consultants, including those located in focus countries;
- Serve as the primary point of contact for information on the progress and current status of all project activities;
- Establish appropriate monitoring mechanisms to ensure that activity progress and specific implementation concerns are regularly and promptly reported and that project objectives are met;
- Manage the preparation and presentation of work plans, M&E plans, and all reports;
- Facilitate ongoing project learning and adaptive management; and
- Ensure that solid relationships are built and maintained between and among FHI 360 and sub-awardee project staff, USAID, and key regional and national stakeholders and partners.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 12 years of relevant experience with project design, implementation, and management, including in complex international programs (i.e., implementation, logistics, budgeting, reporting, and staffing), and preferably those funded by USAID, those conducted in West/Central African countries, and/or regional or multi-country programs;
- Bachelors degree and Masters preffered from an accredited university in a relevant field required;
- Five or more years of supervisory experience;
- Demonstrated success across the whole range of project management responsibilities including: strategic program planning; work planning and budgeting; financial, administrative, contractual management and oversight;
- Experience designing and implementing programs focus on: institutional strengthening, community resilience and trauma healing, increasing political power of citizens, supporting independent media, strengthening governance and rule of law, creating jobs and opportunities for individuals at risk of violence, and other peacebuilding and conflict mitigation strategies:
- Demonstrated success in relationship management with multiple clients; oversight of program monitoring and evaluation; and documentation of results for donor-funded programs;
- Fluency in speaking, reading and writing in English and French required;
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills with demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations, as well as mentor national staff;
- Past representational experience with host governments, multi-lateral institutions, other donors, and civil society and demonstrated success with inter-agency coordination and joint programming;
- Demonstrated strategic planning, staff development and capacity building experience; and
- Strong analytical capacity.
