Background:
The OSCE has a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and human aspects. It therefore addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence and security-building measures, human rights, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities. All 57 participating States enjoy equal status, and decisions are taken by consensus on a politically, but not legally binding basis.
The OSCE Secretariat in Vienna assists the Chairmanship in its activities, and provides operational and administrative support to the field operations, and, as appropriate, to other institutions.
The Office of Internal Oversight (OIO) is part of the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna, Austria. OIO is responsible for planning and delivering internal audits, investigations, and independent evaluations of the Organization's activities, including field operations. The work of OIO provides assurance on the adequacy of governance, risk management, and internal control; contributes to ensure compliance with the Organization's regulatory framework; and helps enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Head of Internal Audit/Deputy Director, the Auditor is responsible for leading internal audits and reviews in order to improve the compliance, effectiveness, efficiency and value-for-money of OSCE executive structures and methods of operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Planning, conducting, and leading internal audits and reviews as assigned from the Office of Internal Oversight annual plan; Assessing governance, risk management, and internal control systems within OSCE executive structures, including field operations and methods of operation, and drafting reports that help improve compliance, effectiveness, efficiency, and value-for-money; Reviewing actions taken to implement agreed internal audit recommendations; Leading and coaching team members assigned to internal audit and review assignments; Performing or assisting with investigations and evaluations, as required; Performing other related duties as assigned.

Remuneration Package:
Monthly remuneration is around EUR 7,000 with the actual monthly salary depending on post adjustment and family status. OSCE salaries are exempt from taxation in Austria. Social benefits will include possibility of participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund. Other allowances and benefits are similar to those offered under the United Nations Common System.
