This exciting opportunity involves designing and implementing an advocacy and communications strategy and action plan for NRCโs classroom-based psychosocial support initiative, the Better Learning Programme (BLP), and the Together for Wellbeing 2030 initiative. The strategy and action plan will be guided by NRCโs ambition to expand BLP across all NRC regional and country offices and to scale up the intervention with key strategic partners, ensuring the maintenance of high-quality provision.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for an experienced professional with a background in media, communications, and advocacy related to development cooperation and humanitarian emergencies. The ideal candidate should have experience developing policy recommendations for donors, national authorities, and aid actors, drawing on program evidence and experience.
What you will do:
Some of your specific responsibilities include:
- Support to NRC global, regional, and Country Offices to develop policy recommendations and advocacy products and initiatives (reports, briefings, events and conferences etc.)
- Explore and utilize innovative and emerging communication tools and new media in support of the BLP advocacy and communication strategy framework.
- Develop plans for increasing the profile of BLP through audio-visual material to broadcast and social media, including supporting the update of regional pages on the NRC website and other platforms.
- In collaboration with the Head of Unit and the Research and MEL Specialist, work with the partner universities to ensure data sharing, analysis and re-elaboration of research to pitch at conferences, workshops and learning platforms.ย
- Participate in all BLP grants related (review, opening, closing, evaluation etc.) meetings.
- Train regional/country office staff in communications gathering (case studies, multimedia, etc.), help with capacity building of staff and partners across NRC country offices.
- Act as an advocate for trauma-sensitive reporting and provide capacity building to comms/advocacy colleagues on the Trauma-sensitive reporting field guide with the Dart Center.

What you will bring:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in media, communications and advocacy in relation to development cooperation/humanitarian emergencies.
- Experience developing policy recommendations to donors, national authorities and aid actors drawing on programme evidence and experience.
- Extensive technical knowledge and experience in content collection including filmmaking and photography with full proficiency in Adobeโs Creative Suite.ย
- Excellent digital and design skills with full proficiency in email marketing platforms such as MailChimp.ย
- Experience in interviewing individuals from crisis-affected communities.ย
- At ease coordinating with teams of advocacy, communications and media colleagues across the globe often with tight deadlines, supporting, mentoring and ensuring highest quality standards and consistency throughout all our advocacy and communications work.
- Knowledge of relevant thematic areas (Education and psychosocial support).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.ย
- Ability or experience in conceptualising and producing new creative advocacy, communication and media products.
- Good understanding of the NRCโs contexts and the ongoing crises.ย
- Natural networker with substantial experience of building relationships.
- Experience working in difficult and hostile environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively to all areas of the region where the programme will be implemented, on a regular basis.ย
- Knowledge of education in emergency and psychosocial support and social emotional learning is preferable.
