GIZ runs the Project Development Programme (PDP) as part of the German Energy Solutions Initiative on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. PDP assists German companies that are seeking to enter the market in emerging economies and developing countries. By pre-developing specific, financially viable energy projects using renewable energy for local companies, the programme supports German businesses in overcoming identified challenges and fosters partnerships between German and local companies. The team is seeking a Software Development Advisor to steer the development of the second version of an outsourced cross-platform mobile and web application based on an existing application. The advisor will also support future digitalisation incentives within the cluster.
Your tasks
Manage the outsourced software development process, including coordinating with external teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality results that meet business requirements Work closely with stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, and timelines, and ensure that software is developed accordingly Identify and manage software development risks and implementation issues, and provide timely solutions to any challenges that arise in collaboration with the stakeholders Monitor outsourced software development progress and ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets Stay up to date with industry best practices in software development and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations Manage communication and share findings and expectations with various stakeholders Responsible for the successful implementation of renewable project development and trainingsYour profile
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field Many years of experience in software development, with several years managing software development teams; experience managing outsourced teams will be an advantage Several years of experience within the energy sector is strongly desired, either directly or through software development e.g. energy management software or similar Experience with code audits and reviews including related tools for the same Experience with Agile development methodologies Strong technical background in cross-platform development with frameworks such as Flutter, React Native, Xamarin, Ionic, or PhoneGap Business fluent in English and German; French skills are an advantageNotes
This position is suited to a full or a part-time position.
The willingness for frequent business trips is required.
