Background:

The UN Women Independent Evaluation and Audit Service (IEAS) evaluates the work of UN women to enhance organizational accountability, provide evidence-based information for decision-making and to contribute to learning on gender equality and the empowerment of women. UN Womenโ€™s Liberia Office is seeking an intern to support its functions in the field of evaluation.ย 

Description of Responsibilities

Assist the Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist in implementing an evaluation plan. In the framework of decentralized evaluations, liaise with Country Offices to ensure respect of UN Women Evaluation policy and facilitate evaluation processes.ย  Support the quality of evaluation processes and products using the standard quality assurance checklists and the Global Evaluation Report Assessment and Analysis System (GERAAS);ย  Update the Global Accountability and Tracking of Evaluations (GATE) system. This includes:ย  uploading, updating, and reporting on status of evaluation plans (i.e., evaluation section of the Evaluation Plan), completed evaluation reports and Terms of Reference (TORs).ย  Monitor the development of management responses to all evaluations within 6 weeks of completion.ย  Monitor progress of actions as per management responses to evaluations, including providing quarterly updates on status of implementation in the GATE system.ย  Support data collection and stakeholder engagement during the evaluation process. Support the use of evaluation findings and recommendations by commissioning graphically designed reports and smart knowledge products.ย  Arrange travel logistics for the purpose of evaluation. Provide overall admin and logistic support to activities and projects undertaken by the Evaluation Unit. Engage in any other support function with regards to the CPE.

Education:

University studies ideally an advanced university studies in one of the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Public Administration, International Development, or other relevant subjects is required. ย  Meet one of the following:ย  Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);ย  Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);ย  Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation; orย  Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.ย 

Language:

Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required;ย  Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

Renumeration:ย 

Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.
