Mission and objectivesUN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. ContextThe Programme Associate works with and provides support to the members of the Programme Team in the development and implementation of effective programmes consistent with UN Women rules and regulations, the Programme Associate contributes to research, financial management, and programme implementation including providing necessary operational, administrative and programmatic support . The Programme Associate works in close collaboration with the operations and programme staff as required for resolving complex finance-related issues and exchange of information.
Task DescriptionUnder the direct supervision of Deputy Country Representative, UN Women Bangladesh, the National UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: 1. Provide administrative and logistical support to the formulation and management of programmes: โข Provide administrative support in the preparation of programme work plans, budgets, and proposals on programme implementation arrangements; โข Provide technical guidance to the programme team and executing agencies on routine delivery and reporting of programme supported activities and finances; โข Prepare information for the audit of programmes/ projects and support implementation of audit recommendations; โข Review programme data from programmes/ projects ; โข Identify sources, and gather and compile data and information for the preparation of documents, guidelines, speeches and position papers. 2. Provide administrative support to the financial management of the Programme Unit: โข Create projects in Quantum system, prepare budget revisions, revise project awards and status; and determine unutilized funds and the operational and financial close of a project; โข Provide administrative support in monitoring budget preparation and the finances of programmes/projects; including the finalization of FACE (Funding Authorization and Certificate of Expenditure ) forms; โข Review financial reports; prepare non-PO (Purchase Order) vouchers for development projects; โข Process payment for consultants; โข Maintain internal expenditures control system; โข Create requisitions in Quantum system for development projects; register good receipts in Quantum system; โข Assist in the preparation and follow up of cost-recovery bills in Quantum system. 3. Provide administrative support to the Programme Unit: โข Undertake all logistical, administrative and financial arrangements for organization for meetings, workshops, events, and missions; โข Make travel arrangements for the Programme Team, including travel requisitions and claims; โข Prepare public information materials and briefing packets; โข Assemble briefing materials and prepare PowerPoint and other presentations; 4. Provide administrative support to Resource Mobilization: โข Prepare cost-sharing and other agreements; follow up on contributions within the BCO (Bangladesh Country Office) resource mobilization efforts; โข Organize, compile and process information from donors, and programme team, as inputs to various databases and documents. 5. Facilitate knowledge building and knowledge sharing: โข Provide administrative support synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices related to programme management and finance; โข Provide administrative support to the organization of training for the office staff and partners on programme and operations related issues. 6. The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Living conditions and remarksDhaka is located in central Bangladesh along the Buriganga River. Not only is it the capital city, but it is also the largest in the country. It is the centre of political, cultural, and economic life in Bangladesh. The official language is Bengali, while English is the working language of UN Agencies. In recent decades, Dhaka has seen the modernization of services, communications, and public works. The city is attracting large foreign investments and greater volumes of commerce and trade. It is also experiencing an increasing influx of people from across the nation; this has reportedly made Dhaka one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. Good English-speaking medical, dental services, and educational centres are available for internationals. Dhaka is connected to other cities by rail, road, and by air and internationals can move easily from one city to another. Dhaka has venerable green spaces, including many gardens and parks, historical places, and nice restaurants. The weather is tropical - hot and very humid during the summer monsoon season (April-September) and drier and cooler in the winter (October-March).
