We are currently seeking qualified candidates for several positions for anticipated secondary education activity in Belize. The activity will aim to work with and strengthen the secondary education system to by equitably increase the number of post-primary graduates with the skills relevant to labor market demands. The activity will work to improve teaching and learning outcomes, provide teaching and learning resources, build the capacity of education leadership and teachers and increase the percentage of primary graduates that enroll in and complete secondary school.

Job Description:
The Teacher Development Specialist will lead the development and implementation of all project activities related to improving teacher professional development for secondary teachers.This will include the provision of technical support and capacity building with the Ministry of Education, national universities, and local organizations, and local governments to implement pre-service and in-service professional development secondary education teachers and school leaders.The position ensures that program components are results-oriented, ensures high quality deliverables, and relevant and timely reporting, and supports the Team Lead to develop and implement strategies.
Required Qualifications:
Masterโs degree in education, public/business administration, management or a relevant field from an accredited university preferred.
At least ten yearsโ experience with technical experience in a mix of education, policy development, communications and advocacy.
Must have at least five years of progressively more responsible supervisory work experience that involved direct leadership of professional and support staff, oversight and evaluation of staff performance and deliverables and contract management.
Understanding of the policy issues relating to teacher development for primary and pre-school education levels and experience in implementation of programs relating to strengthening pre-service and in-service teacher development.
Experience working with the Ministry of Education, local universities and teacher training institutions highly desired.
Understanding of the political and policy context and relationships with key stakeholders in government, private sector and civil society in Belize
Strong writing and communication abilities are essential.
Fluency in English required; proficiency in Spanish, Belizan Creole preferred.
