Introduction
The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people.

Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 216 projects in 129 countries and has committed USD 12.0 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Position Objective
The mission of the Office of Sustainability and Inclusion (OSI) is to ensure environmental and social co-benefits for people and planet and in parallel to apply a suite of related policies and safeguards standards. OSI manages and applies the environmental and social safeguards standards and the Revised Environmental and Social Policy, as well as safeguards against sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment; ensures a gender-responsive approach through gender mainstreaming in line with the Updated Gender Policy; drives implementation of the Indigenous Peoples Policy and supports the Indigenous Peoples Advisory Group. We provide expert assessments and advice, and undertake due diligence on environmental and social matters, to successfully execute GCFโ€™s mission and ensure that investments are sustainable and inclusive.

The Sustainability Specialist, reporting to the Head of Sustainability and Inclusion, will be responsible for post-approval reviews, with a focus on gender and environmental and social safeguards (ESS). The work will include reviewing Annual Performance Reports (in particular on gender), ESS disclosures, post-approval amendments, and performing ESS due diligence on sub-projects within approved programmes. The incumbents will actively engage with the Division of Portfolio Management and other relevant divisions/offices and will provide input to relevant reports as needed. The Sustainability Specialist will also support the implementation of relevant Sustainability policies as needed.
