Introduction
The Green Climate Fund is the worldโs largest dedicated multilateral climate fund and invests in impactful, innovative, catalytic programs and projects in developing countries across the globe. The GCF has a portfolio of 297 projects across 133 countries, with a total commitment of USD 16.6 billion to date.
The Fund will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, the Fund will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.
The Procurement Consultant will be based at the Headquarters. The position is for 7 months period only, and no extension of the contract is envisaged
Role
Under the overall guidance of the Procurement Specialist, the Consultant will provide operational support to the procurement unit, specifically in relation to carrying out day-to-day procurement actions and other procurement matters. The consultant will also provide support in managing the contractor portfolio and performance.
Duties and responsibilities
The Consultant will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Processing, monitoring, reviewing and follow-up on actions related to execution of new and/or ongoing procurement activities.
- Providing updates, guidance and support to client divisions on any procurement issues related to their pipeline procurement requirements;
- Responding to routine requests for information;
- Maintain official procurement data, records and information material in both hard and soft copy files in the shared drive, specifically the Individual Consultant database.
- Prepare reports, analyses and statistics as and when required;
- Take an active role and support process of selection, negotiation, management, monitoring and closure of contracts and purchase orders;
- Draft, prepare and send internal and external written correspondence; and
- Organize her/his work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with minimal direction.
Required experience and qualifications
- Post Graduate degree with at least three (3) years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience;
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in procurement implementation and oversight;
- Good knowledge of office technology such MS office package; experience working with databases in highly desirable;
- Strong interpersonal skills, and highly developed cultural sensitivity in communicating with all levels of staff and external clients, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to perform additional tasks as required and adapt to changing priorities and needs within the organization; and
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position.
