NRC is looking for a Shelter Project Manager to join the Afghanistan mission. The role holder will beย responsible for the implementation of the Shelter project portfolio and technical support to the Central and East Area Office. He/she will contribute to quality programming through thorough project management and use of resources and information on project scale, relevance, and effectiveness.ย

What you will do
Shelter strategyย development. Shelter projects development, coordination and management, in line with strategies, proposals, and donor requirements. Shelter project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation). Technical direction and assurance of high quality of projects. Project budget development and management. Stakeholder management and external coordination. People Leadershipย through staffing, structure, and management of the team; and capacity building and on-the-job training. Represent NRCย in external forums/cluster/working groups.What you will bring
Bachelorโs degree inย civil/construction engineering. Senior level project implementationย experience in a humanitarian/recovery context. Emergency shelterย expertise. Project cycle management experience. Complex and volatile context exposure. Central and East Afghanistan contextย exposure and knowledge, pertaining to displacement and humanitarian needs. Englishย fluency, both written and verbal. Pashto and Dari knowledge.ยWhat makes this position attractive?
The humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is complex, protracted, and worsening. The country recently underwent a regime change in a short space of time. The current regime has limited resources and/or systems in place to provide basic services. In addition to this, internal displacement has taken place due to conflict, climate change, and the economic crisis currently experienced in the country. Afghanistan is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis with a risk of systemic collapse and human catastrophe. The Central & East Area Office comprises of a diverse and committed team of 400 staff, a portfolio of NOK. 70 million, six thematic areas, emergency responses teams, and two camps in earthquake-response areas.ย This is an opportunity to contribute to the protection and assistance of vulnerable and crisis-affected women, girls, boys, and men. NRC Afghanistan is one of the leading humanitarian response agencies (particularly for Afghans forced to flee), maintaining a presence of 12 offices and over 1,000 staff in 14 provinces across the country.
