JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations will drive FHI 360โs strategy for institutional partnerships. This role involves expanding FHI 360โs foundation and corporate donor base and developing new opportunities in key impact areas and geographies. The Senior Director will lead a team in conducting research, securing new partners, and executing the strategy by building relationships with institutional funders. This position requires collaboration with internal stakeholders and effective relationship management with external partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
Complexity & Problem Solving:
Develop and enhance FHI 360โs action plan for institutional partnerships by leveraging research and insights on current strategies, the competitive landscape, and organizational capabilities.
Identify and prioritize private foundation and corporate donors based on FHI 360โs strategic priorities.
Implement and execute the strategy to increase the number of corporate and foundation partners, emphasizing proactive networking and strong account management.
Discretion & Impact:
Influence decisions related to partner selection and funding levels through effective management of the partnership action plan.
Develop and implement outreach plans that align with FHI 360โs broader objectives and collaborate with the Business Development and Partnerships team to achieve annual sales targets.
Prioritize and manage relationships with key funders, identifying and addressing resource needs to support long-term funding and partnership goals.
Collaboration & Interaction:
Design strategies to attract and grow relationships with new and existing funders, ensuring sustainable and effective partnerships.
Partner with technical teams, program delivery, and business development to identify and develop new opportunities and connect them with institutional partners.
Work with internal stakeholders to adapt policies and infrastructure to meet the needs of institutional funders.
Management & Supervision:
Oversee a team of account managers and report to the Vice President, Business Development & Partnerships.
Define roles and responsibilities, support hiring, and manage the teamโs growth and development.
Ensure effective management of the business development pipeline and sales targets while delegating tasks and leading growth initiatives.
Embrace other duties as assigned, contributing to the teamโs multifaceted and evolving responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge & Skills:
Proven experience in managing executive-level accounts, including developing and executing strategic account plans. Skilled in building and nurturing relationships with corporate and foundation donors.
Experience in identifying new funding opportunities and managing budgets to achieve financial goals. Ability to develop and implement strategies to attract and retain donors.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for promoting effective collaboration across diverse teams and managing relationships with external institutional partners. Ability to navigate and influence in varied and dynamic environments.
Deep understanding of current trends and best practices in corporate and foundation philanthropy. Experience in building relationships within the philanthropic community is valuable.
Previous experience with NGOs is preferred. Experience in institutional philanthropy, including building and maintaining donor relationships, is highly valued.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelorโs degree or its international equivalent in Business Administration, International Management, Public Policy, or a related field required.
Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in business management, program management, international development, or cross-cultural communication. Alternatively, 12 years of experience with a masterโs degree, or 9 years with a PhD, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience to effectively fulfill job responsibilities.
Minimum of 8 years in a leadership and management role, ideally within nonprofits and institutional philanthropy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the non-profit or international development sector.
Experience in institutional philanthropy, including building and maintaining donor relationships.
TRAVEL
Travel requirements may vary but could involve up to 25%, including both international and domestic travel, depending on global engagement needs and institutional funding strategy.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Typical office environment. Constantly uses a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
TECHNOLOGY
Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

The expected US Based hiring salary range for this role is listed below. Candidate FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
US Based Hiring Salary Range: $170,000 - $230,000
International hiring ranges will differ based on location.
