Reports to Senior Research Advisor, Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategic Evidence and Learning
Who we are
PSI is a network of locally rooted, globally connected organizations working to achieve consumer-powered healthcare โ people-centered health systems that ensure quality, affordable care wherever and whenever it is needed. Our origins in sexual and reproductive health have grown into a broader mission. Today, we work with the public and private sectors as well as local communities, prioritizing peopleโs voice and choice and developing solutions to meet their essential health needs. Over the past five decades, we have helped push boundaries, break taboos, set trends, and develop innovative solutions to complex global health challenges.
Join us!
Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) self-care โ a ecosystem of health behaviors and products that allow people to self-identify, -treat, and -manage their own health conditions and needs โ has been increasingly recognized as a key strategy for expanding access to primary health care and improving peopleโs SRH wellbeing. PSI supports a wide array of SRH and rights programs globally, including programs that aim to develop and test innovative delivery models and other interventions to improve access to SRH self-care. Among these programs is the Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC) program. Driven by deep consumer insights, DISC aims to support women to become active participants in their health systems through the expansion of awareness of and access to sexual and reproductive health self-care products and behaviors such as self-injectable contraception. DISC currently works with a consortium of implementing partners in Uganda, Nigeria, and Malawi, with plans for expansion to additional countries. In addition to implementing multi-faceted interventions to support the enabling environment, self-efficacy, and service readiness for SRH self-care, the DISC program includes a robust monitoring, evaluation, and research agenda. DISCโs evidence and learning agenda aims to strengthen the evidence base for effective, high-quality delivery of SRH self-care by generating consumer insights, evaluating novel self-care delivery models, and identifying best practices for scaled implementation of self-care programs and policies.
PSI seeks an Advisor II, Research to support sexual and reproductive health research across PSIโs broader SRH department, with a specific focus on conducting self-care research through the DISC program. The Advisor II, Research is a key position within PSIโs SRH research team, working collaboratively with other SRH research and monitoring and evaluation staff to design and implement a variety of research activities, including consumer insights gathering, evaluative research, and implementation science using qualitative and quantitative methods. The Advisor II, Research will be responsible for ensuring technical quality and ethical compliance across a portfolio of studies in multiple countries and across multiple projects within the SRH Department; will serve as a research focal point; and will support teams in the use and dissemination of research findings.
