THE OPPORTUNITY

Plan International Pilipinas Foundation Inc. will implement a project entitled: Strengthening Structures for anticipatory humanitarian action for gender-responsive and inclusive disaster management in the Philippines.

The project aims to establish and empower the participation of youth and children in all diversity, their families, and communities to anticipate the potential negative impacts of disaster in the development of forecast-based early action. It will involve the local government units and their existing mechanisms to identify risks, strengthened their early warning system, and established flexible financing to enable anticipatory action for tropical storms and flooding, with a particular focus on gender equality, inclusion, protection, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.

In line with this project, we invite competent, experienced, and committed professionals to fill the following position.

The Project Manager will be responsible for strengthening the quality of the anticipatory action project under the Resilience program. The post-holder will bring a technical and managerial specialization into the project’s team in the development and emergency settings.

S/he will provide technical support in the assessment, design, planning, and implementation of the project. S/he is responsible for coordinating the program initiatives, projects, and activities including the systems of quality control, monitoring; evaluation, and integration with other programs. The project will be implemented in the municipalities of Llorente and Salcedo in East Samar; and in the municipalities of Datu Blah and Upi in Maguindanao del Norte.

Further, as the Project Manager:

You will lead the quarterly project planning, monitoring, and assessment with project staff and partners at the provincial and municipal levels. You will prepare and modify the project budget in consultation with the project staff and concerned partners. You will consolidate, prepare, and submit quarterly accomplishment reports and completion reports. You will facilitate coaching, mentoring, and leading direct reports, toward achieving the set objectives. You will ensure the submission of timely and quality reports, according to the prescribed format and requirements of the donor. You will represent Plan International Pilipinas in appropriate and relevant local, debates, forums, and conferences in relation to Child-centered Disaster Risk Reduction. Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization. In exceptional cases, you will be asked to support emergency response activities in the communities in your assigned covered areas.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful in the role you will need among other things:

University graduate in Disaster Risk Management, Social Sciences, Community Development, Urban Planning/ Programming, or related courses Minimum of three years of work experience in project management. Three years of experience working on disaster resilience projects of programs, demonstrating the ability to manage budgets and programs.
