Deutsche Gesellschaft fรผr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal German enterprise and supports the German Government to achieve its policy objectives in international cooperation and sustainable development. The department International Services is an integral part of GIZ and provides its services to international clients such as the European Union (EU), bi- and multilateral organisations, national governments as well as private sector companies.
\"Enhancing Security Cooperation in and with Asia\" is a project aiming to support tailored security cooperation with Asia, co-funded by the European Commission, the German Federal Foreign Office and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. It is implemented by GIZ International Services in cooperation with Expertise France (EF).
The overall objective of the project is to enhance the EU's security and defence cooperation in and with Asia. Specifically, deeper and more operational security dialogues with partner countries shall be supported; greater convergence between the policies and practices of the EU and the partner countries, including related gender equality policies and links to National Action Plans on UNSCR 1325 on women, peace and security, shall be promoted; and international awareness and acknowledgement of the EU as a security provider shall be increased.
The action shall help to establish close and sustainable cooperation links with relevant actors in the Indo-Pacific region (including India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Thailand and Vietnam) in four thematic pillars: (1) Counter-Terrorism and Preventing and Countering of Violent Extremism (CT-P/CVE), (2) cyber security, (3) maritime security and (4) crisis management (CSDP/peacekeeping operations and hybrid threats), with GIZ being in charge of the thematic pillars (1) and (4).
We are looking for a Project Assistant (m/f/d) to support the management of the project. The position shall be based in Berlin.
Your tasks
In close coordination with the project manager, your tasks will include:
Supporting the technical and financial management of the project in close coordination with the project team. Administrative and logistical support to the organisation and implementation of project activities in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region. Supporting the preparation and review (quality control) of project reports, and other project documents. Knowledge management and further development of project implementation strategies. Supporting the preparation and financial processing of contracts (grant agreements, service contracts) in close coordination with the project management, other technical and operational units of GIZ as well as external contractual partners. Preparation, follow-up and support of internal controls and external audits. Ensuring proper documentation and filing of procedures, data maintenance, and knowledge management. Support of the office and team management.Your profile
Completed vocational training with several years of professional experience or, alternatively, a university degree (preferably masterโs degree in political science, economics or social science or another course of study geared towards international cooperation). Relevant professional experience in project assistance. Familiar with the structure of GIZ. Intercultural and political sensitivity, ideally with work experience related to the Asia-Pacific region. Fluency in English, good knowledge of German preferable. High social competence, service and customer orientation. Communicative, reliable and willing to work in a tight-knit team. Efficient, detail-oriented, self-organised way of working. Highly experienced in the use of MS Office. Willingness to travel internationally from time to time.Notes
