We are seeking a Program Director, New Initiatives for a 2-year-regular position (renewable) to work within the New Initiatives department at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea. (Duty station: Seoul, Korea)

Job Description

IVI has dramatically expanded its activities by integrating several new vaccine projects at different stages of development with various stakeholders. Further expansion will continue by identifying new partnerships and collaborations requiring in-depth analysis of the strategic and scientific value of proposed projects, translational implementation and follow-up of the selected projects in close collaboration with the different units and departments of IVI. Such activities require the leadership of a fully dedicated person.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Pursue engagement in ongoing activities of existing projects (SAVAC, iNTS, COVID-19 vaccine collaborations) Act as scientific adviser of other projects as requested by the different units and departments Respond to requests of participation in projects proposed by external partners Identify, engage with and secure new projects, national and international collaborations and partnerships of strategic value for the mission of IVI Provide analysis and recommendations to the Director General and Business Development Director on strategic and scientific, business value and feasibility of implementation of new projects Identify sources of funding (grants or other sources) for selected projects, collaborations and partnerships Hand over projects to units and departments for translational implementation (e.g., CARE, EPIC, Science) or lead projects as necessary Support activities of IVI Europe as requested Participate in IVI meetings, seminars, science workshops as participant and speaker Represent IVI in international conferences as appropriate Write concept notes, reports and manuscripts and prepare presentations Supervise New Initiatives team Work to support IVI institutional objectives, training, and other duties as assigned. Ad hoc support to the Director General as requested

Job Requirements and Qualifications

1. Education Requirements
M.D., PhD or masters optional

2. Related Field Work Experience
At least 15 years of international experience in vaccine development (science, preclinical and clinical development) — experience in vaccine development, regulatory strategy, and grant preparation

3. Technical and Professional Skills / Knowledge
Extensive knowledge in infectious diseases GCP certificate (CITI), international vaccinology course Capacity to assess strategic and scientific value of new projects Management and communication skills in international settings Written skills for concept notes, grants, reports and publications Able to travel internationally as requested Capacity to assess, initiate and secure projects of strategic and scientific new projects for IVI and Global health

4. Language Proficiency
Fluent in English (spoken, written), other languages as a plus (French, Korean)
