Introduction
The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people.

Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 216 projects in 129 countries and has committed USD 12.0 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Internship Assignment

The Intern will provide analytical and operational support to the Knowledge Management and Climate units in the โ€‹Office of the Executive Directorโ€‹. S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by providing assistance in relation to GCF subscriptions and memberships, knowledge product development, visual knowledge product development, knowledge partnerships, providing support to the team in preparing for internal and external engagements, presentations, and research and drafting of various assignments for the team, support to the climate impact network, and other priorities of the Office of the Executive Director.

Under the overall guidance of the designated primary and alternate supervisors within the โ€‹Office of the Executive Director,โ€‹ the Intern is expected to:

  1. Mapping GCF relevant memberships and support active GCF participation in such events and platforms;

    1. Supporting the team with external partners engagements, knowledge cafes and high-level speakers' series, including the writing of brief notes, PPTs, memos, minutes as well as preparing of other supporting material and providing logistical support;

      1. Supporting the team with content development. This would also include benchmarking exercises, surveys, multimedia and visual knowledge products;

        1. Providing support to internal communities of practice (CoPs) led by the team through analysis, note taking, and follow ups;

          1. Coordinate various internal collaborative initiatives;

            1. Support activities related to data lifecycle management;

              1. Administration of the Climate Impact Network (CNET), including setting agendas, arranging team review meetings, and following up on the agreed actions.

                1. Arrangements for regional training on the use of climate change information, with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)

                  1. The curation of an online network of resources, coordinated by the Climate Science Lead

                    1. Supporting other strategic and corporate priorities of the Office.

                      Requirements and qualifications

                      1. Enrolled in Masterโ€™s program in International Relations, Law, Finance, Economics, Science or related fields;

                        1. Knowledge and experience in analysing complex problems, data and processes; and coordinating collaboration between multiple stakeholders;

                          1. Ability to multitask and deliver within tight timelines, while demonstrating attention to detail;

                            1. Excellent drafting, presentation and communication skills;

                              1. Good understanding and experience in climate change, climate finance and/or designing and implementing projects in developing countries is an added advantage;

                                1. Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Asana or other project management software;

                                  1. Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage.

                                    *The person assessed by the Selection Panel as most suitable for the position will be proposed for appointment. The above criteria should be seen as indicators of the experience and skills that would qualify candidates for consideration. Selection among short-listed candidates will also take into account performance at interview, appropriate testing, and references.
