A ceasefire for Yemen in 2022 was agreed upon between the two main parties to the conflict and has provided hope for the first time in the long-lasting conflict in Yemen. The international community wants to realign its support in the future and focus more on structure-building, resilience, and peacebuilding measures, thereby making the Yemeni population less dependent on humanitarian aid. For this purpose, international donors have created a new coordination structure. This new structure pursues the overarching goal of making international cooperation more efficient at the political-strategic, technical, and sectoral levels. For this purpose, coordination between international actors for Yemen shall be strengthened on the one hand and the so-called \"Humanitarian-Development-Peace-Nexus\" shall be elaborated and operationalized on the other. Germany has taken a pioneering task in this process and is involved at all levels. Against this background, the project โDonor and Nexus Coordination for Yemenโ supports Germany to fulfill its engagement in all aspects of the coordination and especially in the development of the Yemen Information Board. The activities listed below will initially be carried out from Amman.
Your tasks
Support the Head of Project in the overall steering of the project Provision of policy advice to the German Embassy to Yemen through development of briefings, learning and policy documents on the humanitarian-development-peace nexus Participation in review of policy recommendations, stakeholder discussions and support for ad-hoc requests placed by representatives of the German Embassy in Amman as well as representatives from the Federal Ministry for Economic Coorporation and Development and the Federal Foreign Office in the donor- and nexus coordination for Yemen Technical support for internal and external meetings, workshops and conferences in the project Collaboration in the conception, planning, implementation and follow-up of donor and nexus coordination events Support contracting and consultant management including drafting of Terms of References, steering of consultants for the technical working groups and the Yemen Information Board Collaboration on the knowledge management in project Contribute to both, internal and external communication productsYour profile
University degree in the field of politics or social sciences with a focus on international cooperation, peace and security or similar related fields First experience in policy and strategy analysis of humanitarian and development actors First experience in the Middle East, preferrably in Yemen Conceptual knowledge on the humanitarian development-peace nexus (HDP Nexus) Political sensitivity and diplomatic skills, as well as very good conceptual and analytical skills and strong communication skills Business fluent in English and German, Arabic is a great advantageLocation information

The activities are currently carried out to Amman. Occasional to frequent business travel to Yemen is required. Depending on the security situation and the requirements of GIZ, it is possible that the location will be relocated from Amman back to Yemen.
