The Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics is dedicated to providing thought leadership for the policy community about the dynamics of Chinaโ€™s economy and its implications for industries and other countries. Our work โ€“ research, publications, events & outreach โ€“ focuses on the overall trajectory of Chinaโ€™s economy, its high-tech innovation drive, and Americaโ€™s China policy.

The Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics is seeking two part-time paid research interns who can provide dedicated support for research and analysis, during the period from January 8, 2024 to May 2024. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, professional, and has a strong interest in Chinese politics and economics. The research intern supports the research agenda of the program, engagement events, and promotional activities.

The hired candidate will be paid hourly, commensurate with experience ($17.00/hour for current undergraduate hires, $18.00/hour for hires with a bachelorโ€™s degree, and $19.00/hour for hires with a masterโ€™s degree).


Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
โ€ข Assisting in qualitative and quantitative research, analysis, and writing for publications.
โ€ข Writing event summaries.
โ€ข Providing logistical and administrative support for projects and events.
โ€ข Assisting in curating Trustee Chair social media.
โ€ข Performing a variety of other duties as assigned.

Strong candidates will be able to commit to a full-time internship (35 hours/week) from early January 2024 to early July 2024, and possess the following attributes:

โ€ข Must be at least a current undergraduate senior. Current graduates and recent graduates preferred. Applicants currently enrolled in or those that have recently completed a masterโ€™s degree are preferred. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution.
โ€ข Must be eligible to work in the United States.
โ€ข Must be able to be on-site or hybrid.
โ€ข Must be able to commit to 20 hours a week.
โ€ข Must have strong research, analysis, and writing skills.
โ€ข Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
โ€ข Must have the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
โ€ข Must have the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects under tight deadlines.
โ€ข Must demonstrate academic or professional background in Chinese political economy, Chinaโ€™s macroeconomy or financial markets.
โ€ข Chinese-language skills strongly preferred.
โ€ข Experience curating social media platforms preferred
โ€ข Experience in econometrics or statistics preferred
โ€ข Familiarity with data visualization preferred.
