JOB SUMMARY: ย The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity.ย Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 250 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe. ย The CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program seeks a temporary research associate to support our portfolio of work focusing on energy security and permitting reform.ย ย The temporary research associateโs responsibilities will include policy research, data analysis, project management, proposal development, and administration. The successful candidate will be a team player, possess excellent research, writing and communication skills, and have an entrepreneurial spirit and drive to turn ideas into impact. Demonstrated experience of permitting reform and energy security is preferred. ย The salary band for this role is $63,000 -$75,000, commensurate with experience. ย ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: ย Research, Writing, and Project Management (75-80%), including but not limited to: โข Identifies and researches key issues in global energy and climate policy, clean energy development, geopolitical developments, and other related program areas of interest โข Researches and contributes writing to reports, analysis, thought pieces, and multimedia products โข Contributes to multiple collaborative research projects โข Represents the Program at meetings, workshops, and public or private eventsย โข Other tasks as assigned by the Director โข Administrative Duties (20-25%), including but not limited to โข Provides task management, including coordination of publications, events, and related project deliverables โข Ensures timely execution of regular internal and external communications regarding project assignments โข Works with the Program to organize and execute meetings, conferences, and workshops, and other logistics as needed โข Other tasks as assigned by the Director ย KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: ย โข 2-3 years direct experience in energy and climate sectorย โข Familiarity with environmental permitting procedures โข Experience in a fast-paced think tank environment โข Familiarity with environmental laws โข Demonstrated knowledge of energy and climate policy, particularly with the relevant U.S. executive agencies and U.S. Congress โข Masterโs degree or equivalent related work experience in the field โข Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from constituency groups, media, governmental entities, and the general public โข Possess an entrepreneurial mind-set and be able to work well independently and in teams โข Sound judgment and creative outlook ย PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS: ย The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee working in an office environment.ย Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.ย The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. ย Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status. ย Equal Opportunity Employer. ย HOW TO APPLY:ย ย Interested applicants please submit your resume and cover letter at https://careers.csis.org.ย
