Building on the work of the High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation and consultations of multi-stakeholder roundtable groups, the United Nations Secretary-General issued a Roadmap for Digital Cooperation (A/74/821) which addresses how the international community can better harness the opportunities presented by digital technologies while addressing their challenges. The Secretary-General's report \"Our Common Agenda\" issued in September 2021 prioritizes the digital space and the need to \"protect the online space and strengthen its governance\". It also proposed a Global Digital Compact (GDC), which was adopted at the Summit of the Future in September 2024. OSET leads the implementation of the Secretary-General's vision on digital cooperation by working closely with various UN entities and multi-stakeholder groups, facilitating dialogue to accelerate global digital cooperation, seizing on the opportunities that are presented by technology – while mitigating the risks – so that progress towards achieving the Goals by 2030 can be made collectively, as well as carrying out other related duties and responsibilities assigned by the Secretary-General, including follow up actions from the report \"Our Common Agenda\". For this job posting OSET offers internship opportunities in Programme Management and Administration, with the following corresponding duties: • Assist in the organization and coordination of the OSPOs for Good 2025 Conference. • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to plan, oversee, and deliver an engaging and impactful event. • Contribute to the design and conceptualization of conference sessions, side events, and key discussions. • Assist in the day-to-day operations of OSET’s digital cooperation portfolio. • Conduct research on trends and developments in technology governance, providing regular internal updates. Qualifications/special skillsFor internships in the United States of America, interns who are not United States citizens, permanent residents or on another non-immigrant (such as Fl visa) status, will be required to obtain a G4 visa. Interns will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid visa, and if required, employment authorization (CPT/OPT), allowing them to undertake the internship. To qualify for an internship by the United Nations Headquarters Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (1) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (2) Be enrolled in the FINAL academic year of a university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (3) Have graduated with a university degree as defined in (1) and (2). Preferably in the area of the below respective degree programme(s) in a graduate school (second university degree or higher); or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree in one of the areas below. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
