The Indo-German Programme for Vocational Education and Training (IGVET) is one out of seven ongoing projects in the sustainable economic development (SED) cluster in India. The project aims at strengthening the dialogue between public and private sector actors in the Indian vocational education and training (VET) system and at promoting high-quality and cooperative training opportunities for Indiaโs youth. To this end, the IGVET project works closely with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and provides advisory services and capacity building support to selected industries and industry associations, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), and Sector Skill Councils (SSCs). During its first four years of implementation, the IGVET project has piloted various successful models of cooperative VET in four Indian states, namely Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Rajasthan. Since September 2020, the project now focusses on replicating these models in additional sectors and regions across the country.
