CSIS interns mostly work downtown at our office in DC, but some flexibility is offered to work remotely part of the time. All candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States. ย  This role is paid hourly from $17.50 for undergraduate students, $18.50 for a completed bachelors degree and $19.50 for a completed masters degree.ย  ย  ย  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: ย  Interns have substantive programmatic and research responsibilities. Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: โ€ข Compiling research briefs and literature reviews for fellows and research staff; โ€ข Observing or listening to virtual events and writing event summaries; โ€ข Pitching and researching articles for the Middle East Programโ€™s monthly newsletter; โ€ข Assisting with editing and production of the Middle East Programโ€™s biweekly podcast, Babel: Translating the Middle East; โ€ข Supporting maintenance of the programโ€™s website and contact database; โ€ข Drafting external communications via the programโ€™s Facebook and Twitter pages and Pardot mailings; โ€ข Completing other minor administrative tasks. ย  KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: ย  โ€ข Completion or near completion of a bachelorโ€™s degree or higher in Middle East studies, international affairs, political science, or a related field; โ€ข Minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a U.S. scale or equivalent; โ€ข Strong demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the Middle East; โ€ข Demonstrated research skills; โ€ข Outstanding written and oral communication skills; โ€ข Zest for challenging assignments that demand creativity; โ€ข Working knowledge of Arabic, Persian, and/or French strongly preferred with an emphasis on reading and listening skills. ย  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS: ย  This position will be based out of our Washington DC headquarters and is expected to be in-office 3+ days per week.
