The programme โPromoting efficient and transparent local governance in Zambiaโ is funded by the Federal German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development to support Zambiaโs decentralisation process. The programme partners at the national level with the Decentralisation Secretariat, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the Local Government Association of Zambia, the Chalimbana Training Institute, and at the local level with the local governments in Southern Province and Luapula Province to: (1) support to the further conceptionalization of decentralisation, (2) strengthening the capacities of local governments in development processes, (3) improving citizen participation in local development processes, (4) improving local public service delivery and (5) enhancing offers for capacity building in local governance.
Your tasks
As part of your internship in the D4D programme, you will have the following tasks, among others:

You are studying in the third semester or higher Political or Social Sciences, Public Administration, Development Studies, or comparable studies Very good organisational and communication skills Strong writing skills and attention to detail Ability to work in a team, a high degree of independence and commitment as well as strong intercultural competence First professional experience in the field of governance, decentralisation, rule of law is desirable First experience in GIZ partner countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa is an asset Fluency in English with excellent written and oral skills are required, German language skills are an assetNotes
Please be informed that you are only allowed to apply for this internship, if you are currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship.
We pay a monthly stipend of โฌ2.064,- (gross). Depending on the country of assignment a monthly expatriation allowance (gross), predetermined by GIZ will be paid on top.
