The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity.ย Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.
CSIS seeks a part-time intern to support the International Security Program and the Arleigh A. Burke Chair in Strategy. This program focuses on issues related to Indo-Pacific security, U.S.-China military competition, and U.S. defense planning. This intern will conduct research to support a CSIS wargame on a future war over Taiwan and assist with the physical production of the wargame. The intern will also provide administrative support for public and private events hosted by the International Security Program on the changing character of war. Interns should be highly motivated, a focused problem-solver, and able to navigate in a fast-paced working environment.
This position will be considered on a rolling basis through March 8, 2024.
The hired candidate will be paid hourly, commensurate with experience ($17.00/hour for current undergraduate hires, $18.00/hour for hires with a bachelorโs degree, and $19.00/hour for hires with a masterโs degree).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:ย
Supporting high-level meetings and public events including prepping materials, set-up, event registration, and more. Administrative support to program. Note taking for wargame sessions and other events. Spot and background research on the Ukraine War, Israel-Hamas War, and Chinese nuclear development. Other administrative tasks as necessary.ย KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: ย
Strong academic record with a demonstrated interest in security and war studies. Competitive applicants should be in their junior year of undergraduate study or above. Must have at least a 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution Experience attending meetings and taking notes for principals Strong research skills Ability to work independentlyย PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS:
