Work LocationIn person, Nairobi Duty Station Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations Secretariat is seeking motivated interns to support the work of the Resident Coordinator System (RCS). Resident Coordinators (RCs) are the highest-ranking representatives of the United Nations Development System (UNDS) at the country level and are the designated representative of โ and report to โ the UN Secretary-General. RCs have the responsibility to lead United Nations Country Teams (UNCTs), ensure system-wide accountability on the ground for the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (Cooperation Framework), and coordinate UN support to countries in their implementation of the 2030 Agenda. This internship is located at UN Resident Coordinatorโs Office in Nairobi. Kenya. The intern will report to the Head of Resident Coordination Office Kenya. Responsibilities โข Support the development of a weekly social media calendar and draft posts for UN Kenya social media platforms. โข Assist in updating and providing inputs to UN Kenya website and other communications productions, including creating and editing videos, articles, and social media posts. โข Support the development, translation, and editing of communications materials, including op-eds, website content, press releases, social media posts, speeches, and other media/social media articles in English and Kiswahili. โข Facilitate on-site communications activity set-up, including video recording, press conferences, photography, etc. โข Support team members in coordinating inter-agency and high-level meetings or events organized through the UN Communications Group. โข Assist the RCO staff in gathering results relevant to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2022-2026. โข Support the production of graphic design of brochures, presentations and other documentation. โข Assist in preparing briefing material, key strategic points and background information prior to UN RC meetings โข Support maintaining the officeโs mailing list always updated; and โข Support RCO in organising strategic high-level events on coordination The internship is for 6 months and is unpaid and will not attract any remuneration or allowances. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Be enrolled in the final academic years of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelorโs level or equivalent) in information management, document management, digital archiving or a related field of study; Applicants must demonstrate their intention to study further or to work in a field relevant to this internship description. Applicants are expected to have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications. Preferred area of study: Studies in Information Management, Library Science, Statistics, or related area. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
