Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of approximately 250 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe. ย CSIS is seeking paid research interns who are highly motivated, professional, and have a keen interest in the U.S.-Australian alliance, Australian foreign policy, Pacific Islandโs affairs, and international security. Australia Chair works to broaden the reach and impact of the U.S.-Australia alliance. We operate a fast-paced, dynamic program, and require interns who are detail-oriented and can work independently and as part of a team. The Program is aiming for a May 2024 start date. The CSIS Wadhwani AI Center seeks to answer vitally important questions about the future of Artificial Intelligence and its implications for the global economy and international security.ย ย The hired candidate will be paid hourly, commensurate with experience ($17.50/hour for current undergraduate hires, $18.50/hour for hires with a bachelorโs degree, and $19.50/hour for hires with a masterโs degree) ย ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: ย โข Assist with ad hoc and long-term research projects and organize relevant information for the programโs various ongoing projects. Monitor ongoing developments in emerging technology policy and industry.ย โข Draft memos, event summaries, and other materials for program staff. ย โข Provide support coordinating meetings, workshops, panels, and other events. ย โข Have a positive attitude, outstanding communication/interpersonal skills, and ability to work with a team under tight deadlines. ย ย KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: ย โข Must be eligible to work in the United States.ย โข Must be at least a college junior, a recent graduate, or a graduate student with a demonstrated interest in the U.S.-Australia alliance, Indo-Pacific affairs, Australian politics, alliance management, and democratic resilience.ย โข Must be able to work in-person at CSIS headquarters in Washington, DC.ย โข Ability to commit 35 hours per week.ย โข Demonstrate strong writing, research, organizational, communication, time management, and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail; editing experience preferred.
