Insufficient access to finance for infrastructure projects, particularly for innovative and transformative projects addressing climate change, is one of the most critical barriers hindering sustainable urban development. The CFF is supporting cities in advancing the Paris Agreement and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, specifically Goal 11 to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

The CFF was launched at the C40 Forum during COP21 in Paris and is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Agence franรงaise de dรฉveloppement (AFD). The CFF is jointly implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fรผr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40), with GIZ as the main implementing agency for technical assistance.
WHAT WE DO
The CFF facilitates access to finance for climate change projects in urban areas by providing technical assistance to develop citiesโ sustainability priorities into bankable investment proposals.
