About the Program:
The Research, Data and Innovation team (RDI) fosters a culture of research excellence and integrity within WRI. The RDI team provides guidance and mentoring to staff and oversees the peer review process for research products, which include both traditional documents and interactive applications. WRI measures the success of publications in terms of the quality of research and its ability to drive change in the world in ways that support WRIโs mission. RDI also oversees the Human Subjects Protection process, to ensure that WRIโs work does not harm the people we work and partner with.

Job Highlights:
You will launch, refine and maintain the new Human Subject Protection (HSP) Process at WRI, working collaboratively with Human Subject Protection and legal experts across WRI. You will work with WRI staff across the world, to ensure they understand and comply with WRIโs HSP process. You will also assign HSP tasks to HSP officers and help evaluate review requirements for HSP project submissions.
You will be supported by learning and development specialists, operations specialists and by HSP Officers within WRI.
You will report to the Director, Research, Data and Innovation.
This position will be a hybrid model of remote and in-office.
What you will do:
Oversee and manage the HSP process for WRI projects (50%)
Serve as the primary contact for WRI Project Leads as they enter their projects into the HSP process, and for HSP Officers regarding administrative procedures
Ensure orderly record keeping of documentation, statuses, and decisions regarding the HSP process for all projects in the system
Perform pre-review of HSP submissions for WRI projects to verify relevant information was entered, and help evaluate which type of additional review is required for each project, if any
Work with WRIโs IT systems to ensure Project Leads and HSP Officers complete submission and review tasks promptly
Train staff on HSP Process at WRI (20 % time)
Develop, roll out, maintain, and oversee translation of HSP trainings targeting all staff, project leads, and HSP officers
Ensure delivery of training to our WRI staff
Launch and maintain the HSP Process at WRI (20% time)
Launch the new HSP process, working with the Operations, Human resources, and Information Technology teams
Test the system and adapt it
Evaluate good practices for continuous improvement of the HSP process
Partner with other primary functions within WRI (10%)
Coordinate with the RDI team, the Managing for Results team, the Development team, the Legal team and the Equity team to align the HSP process with other research and donor standards at WRI.
What you will need:
Experience managing multiple, complex, inter-related and time-sensitive projects.
Experience tracking schedules and workloads to ensure work is delivered.
Knowledge of the principles of human subjects protection, through a documented training completion or experience record, and preferably with HSP-related experience in the field(s) of environment, international development, population, economics, or related field
Experience training or teaching
Experience communicating complex concepts or processes to a diverse group of partners
Experience using MS Office and Sharepoint
Experience cataloging data and information, and large numbers of files at an institution level
Experience monitoring project risks
Experience working in multicultural, and ideally international, environments
Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certification is preferred
Education: You have a Bachelor degree in an environmental, social science, international, ethics, or related field.
Experience: You have a minimum of 4 years full-time relevant work experience in project management or administration, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a role related to ethics or human subjects protection compliance
Languages: Fluency in English. Knowledge of a second language used at WRI is a plus (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chinese, or Bahasa Indonesian).
