FHI 360 has an exciting internship opportunity for a graduate student interested in growing their skills within the social marketing and communications area, and be part of the efforts to end HIV in the United States with an intentional health equity approach. The Social Marketing and Communication (SMC) department within FHI 360โs US Business Unit is a national leader in applying a science-based approach to social marketing and communication to address public health and other challenges in the United States. SMC currently implements a diverse portfolio of social marketing, public relations, and communication projects that are funded by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), private associations, and foundations.
Under close supervision, the intern will perform entry level professional duties which will provide the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas and processes necessary for the implementation of social marketing plans and the development of communicational assets. These efforts will occur within the context of a nation-wide social marketing campaign that uses an umbrella brand for cohesive nation-wide and regional messaging. This internship assignment will offer practical experience and broad exposure to working as a contractor for a federal government agency in HIV prevention strategy and implementation to bring an end to the HIV epidemic.
This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule within Eastern Time business hours.
Anticipated Duration: 2024 Spring Semester: January โMay 2024
Hours: Part-time, 12 to 30 hours per week
Pay Rate: $25.00 โ 30.00/hour depending on type of graduate degree pursued (Masters / PhD)
Location: Remote (preference given to the candidates in ET zone and CT zone)

Anticipated Project(s) and Assignment Details:
The intern may contribute to the implementation of two specific special communication projects that will cover HIV messaging about HIV testing and health communications for transgender and gender non-conforming audiences under the direction of their supervisor in the following ways:
- Contribute to communication project activities, including campaign asset development as assigned by supervisor.
- Assist in creative development and copy writing support
- Conduct desk reviews, landscape analyses or secondary data analyses
- Contribute to project-related presentations, blogs, reports and manuscripts
- Assist with project-related administrative tasks, as needed, using internal tools and platforms for project management
- Document and participate in team meetings with the client (e.g., assisting with meeting preparation, meeting minutes, a post-meeting report)
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or university in a related field of study or within one year of graduation date: masterโs or PhD in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Administration, Social Sciences, or Public Health
- Demonstrated interest in HIV, sexual health, non-normative sexualities, or health and race/ethnicity equity
- Genuine interest and commitment to bringing access to health care information through culturally appropriate, evidence-based communications to communities disproportionately affected by HIV in the United States
- Motivated to work with a diverse team
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and express ideas.
- Strong writing and presentation skills
- Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. Working professional fluency in Spanish is desirable, but not essential.
- Familiar with mobile technologies and social media platforms
