EU WASH Infrastructure Officer (Hardware)

Plan International Pacific is seeking to hire a full time WASH Infrastructure Officer (Hardware), who will work on the EU funded South Bougainville Wash Programme. The WASH Project Officer (Hardware) will lead in technical design, implementation and monitoring of the infrastructure intervention within the Water, sanitation and Hygiene program and Schools, Health facilities and community construction projects in South Bougainville. The focus of the WASH Project Officer (Hardware) role is to plan, coordinate and implement and WASH infrastructure plans and programs for WASH service delivery working with key stakeholders including: Community WASH Committees, School Leadership, Health Care Facility staff, Ward and District Development Committees, Southern Region Development Authority personnel, and staff from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (ARoB) government (ABG) - Department of Health, Department of Education, Department of Community Government, and Department of Community Development. The role will also involve working with and supporting local partner organizations engaged by PIPNG for this project including, potentially, the Bougainville Womenโ€™s Federation and Bougainville Disabled Peopleโ€™s Organization. The role will be based in Arawa Bougainville, PNG.

The role reports to Plan International PIPNG WASH Project Coordinator.

Do you have what it takes to be successful in this role?

Relevant tertiary qualifications or a minimum of 3-5 yearsโ€™ experience in developing and coordinating activities and plans related to infrastructure design planning, implementation, budgeting, reporting, evaluation and monitoring Experience in WASH infrastructure works relating to rain water catchment, gravity-fed water supply, and operation and maintenance of WASH facilities. Experience in building design, construction and supervision of building services for institutional structures like Schools, Health facilities and communities Able to develop designs using AutoCAD or other means, develop Bill of Quantities for schools, Health facilities and communities Ability to designing water and sanitation systems that are disaster resilient and are appropriate for the local environment, and incorporating WASH infrastructure designs that are Child friendly, addresses Gender and Disability needs in schools, health facilities and communities Ability to develop Operations and Maintenance plans and support schools and Health facilities to assess the life cycle cost of WASH infrastructure Good knowledge in WASH related Projects or Programs Demonstrated skills and experience in coordinating, training, facilitating and capacity building of organizational staff, partners and community members and/or community- based organizations. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce succinct written reports in English. Commitment to and/or experience in rights-based approaches, including child rights, gender and inclusion. Previous work experience in Bougainville or can relocate to AROB in Arawa
