FHI 360 has an exciting internship opportunity for a student interested in growing their skills within the international development sector. Under close supervision, an Intern will perform entry level professional duties which will provide the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas throughout the organization. Internship assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to a global nonprofit development organization.
The Emerging and Infectious Diseases and Health Security (EIDHS) Division is a rapidly expanding team within FHI 360. With a presence in over 30 countries and global staff of 140, EIDHS technical experts and programmatic staff are leading the way to prevent, detect, and respond to the next global pandemic. The EIDHS intern will join this dynamic team and primarily support the Project Manager with developing communications and knowledge management materials such as blogs, newsletters, reports, presentations, and other materials. The intern may also assist with developing marketing materials for conferences and events that members of the division are participating in or supporting. The intern will also have the opportunity to support the divisionโs other business development, project management, and communications efforts.
This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule based on project needs.
Anticipated Duration: January โ May, 2024
Hours: Part time, 20 hours per week
Pay Rate: $23.00/hour
Location: United States, remote (preference given to the candidates in ET zone and CT zone)

Anticipated Project(s) and Assignment Details:
The intern may contribute to various division activities under the direction of their supervisor in the following ways:
- Assist with developing content and marketing and communications strategies for promoting initiatives, events, products, and other division and organization activities
- Manage digital communications such as EIDHS website, MailChimp campaigns, and press releases/blog postings
- Conduct internal and external communication impact analyses
- May support building web content and collaborate with Corporate Communications and Design Lab
- Organize and may participate in team meetings and project related calls
- Conduct background research on donors, programs, and strategies and developing summaries that highlight the divisionโs capabilities
- May assist with project-related communication tasks, as needed
- Assist with development and finalization (including drafting, copyediting and content editing) of project success stories
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or university in a related field of study or within one year of graduation date: Masters in Public Health MA in Health Communications, Social Science, or Public Health
- Demonstrated interest in related subject area through studies, work experience, and/or personal travel
- Energetic, self-motivated, proactive, and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
- Strong writing and organization skills; must be able to manage time well
- Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, direct manner
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
- Ability to catch on quickly to different programmatic and technical contexts
- Adaptive to needs of the team and can offer fresh ideas and innovations to promote maximum impact
- Masters degree preferred
- Design skills are a plus, such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Canva or related design skills
