The U.S. governmentโ€™s (USG) Global Health Security (GHS) program provides life-saving assistance to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats which pose risks for public health outbreaks that could cost lives. As part of the USGโ€™s GHS program, the STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Activity advances cross-sectoral efforts to successfully identify, manage, and respond to infectious disease threats; detect and prevent further outbreaks; and instill confidence and trust in a countryโ€™s disease detection and surveillance structures and services.

Position Summary:

The Data Specialist will support the implementation of the STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) project in The Philippines by maintaining and implementing the monitoring and evaluation processes and practices of the project. They will train program staff to ensure that performance indicators and data related to outcomes, achievements, and impact are properly prepared and collected in targeted geographic areas and sectors.

They will provide basic technical support and guidance to staff and partners in the country office, draft technical portions of proposals and project design, based on the design and direction set by technical leadership, implement and monitor technical strengthening initiatives. They will develop adoption and/or training strategy, designs and conduct training or adoption activities for a specific technical area. Creates scientific or technical material in the area of expertise and evaluates programmatic effectiveness and provides technical assessment reports. They will provide administrative support on core project operations (e.g., updating manuals, assisting with proposals, and budget tracking).
