The Opportunity
This position is responsible for assessment, response analysis, design and implementation of the education components of PlayMatters Project emergency response. Will need to co-ordinate with other Emergency Response team members and Plan staff, especially Implementation Management, protection and other relevant technical sectors, to ensure a rapid, proportionate and effective response. Will need to ensure response to immediate child education issues with simultaneous consideration of longer term needs and possible scenarios. The officer may be expected to take a very active role in technical co-ordination, support and advocacy with the country specific education Clusters and other stakeholders and technical agencies relevant to the sector.
Qualifications/ Experience Essential:
- B.E. degree in Education, pedagogy, Community Development, Psychology, social science
- Minimum of 3 years of ractical experience in Education in emergency (EiE)
- Minimum of two successful assignments in a complex IDP emergency situation (at least one of these must be field level post);
- Experience with the following technical areas:
- Mobilizing and training of school teachers
- Knowledge and experience of using and providing training on the INEE Minimum Standards for Education in Emergencies
- Participation and/or coordination with the Education Cluste
Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan Internationalโs Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that all staff signed safeguarding policies;
- Implement Plan Internationalโs global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.
