PSI seeks a Director, HIV and TB who will provide overall leadership, management, and oversight of the technical department. This person will lead and oversee HIV and TB global technical strategies and programs as well as provide support to country programs. The Director of HIV and TB will provide both direct and indirect management of a dispersed technical team. The Director will oversee the provision of internal capacity strengthening efforts in HIV and TB and related programming across the PSI network. The Director will be viewed as both an internal and external thought leader in their field and established manager.


Salary Range:
$147,000 (MINIMUM) - $184,000 (MID-POINT) - $230,000 (MAXIMUM)
For US-based candidates, the annual base salary range is reflected above.* We value transparency and have provided the full salary range for this role. Actual base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as a candidateโ€™s qualifications, experience, internal equity, external market analysis, and other business factors permitted by law. Hiring above the mid-point of the range would not be typical in order to allow for potential future salary growth. Your contributions

Representation: Develop, fosters, and maintains strategic partnerships. Develops and maintains relationships with external partner organizations and donors. Influences the context in which PSI works through representation at relevant technical working groups, conferences, workshops, and policy-oriented forums using appropriate thought leadership approaches. Represents PSI and the department or project at high level external fora. Represents the HIV and TB portfolio to the donors and key partners. 35% of Time Technical: Sets departmentโ€™s technical strategy, in line with PSIโ€™s global strategy. Responsible for providing internal and external technical leadership in HIV, TB, and related areas. Recognized internally and externally as a high-level subject matter expert. Shares frequently ideas and technical knowledge and expertise to grow the organization and its reputation in there are of subject matter expertise. Drives the utilization of evidence-based tools and innovations to improve the PSI networkโ€™s ability to prevent, detect/diagnose and control and treat infectious diseases and threats. 20% of Time Fundraising: Maintains relationships with relevant donors and partners. Sets department fundraising strategy. Oversees implementation of department fundraising strategy. 15% of Time Thought Leadership / Knowledge Management: Sets and oversees department thought leadership and knowledge management strategy. 10% of Time People Management: Provides coaching, guidance, direction, and leadership to department and global project teams that are managed by the Global HIV and TB Department. Supervises and develops team members. Makes recommendations concerning employment, termination, performance evaluations, salary actions, and other personnel actions. Sets team and individual goals. Prioritizes, organizes, delegates, and coordinates the flow of work. Enhances individual employee performance through frequent and timely communication and support. Ensures synergies across technical areas and interventions through planning, coordination, deployment of resources, and intra-team communication. 10% of Time Program Management: Accountable for executing departments strategic priorities within workplans and budget. 10% of Time

What are we looking for?

Masterโ€™s Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field (e.g., MPH, MSc, MPP, MPA, MBA).Medical Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field highly preferred. At least 15 years of related experience. At least 7 years of supervisory experience.Demonstrated advanced technical knowledge in HIV and TB with implementation experience in at least two countries in which PSI works.Experience managing programs funded by PEPFAR/USG, UNITAID, Global Fund and other donorsDemonstrated leader, ability to lead a complex team. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to motivate, develop, and direct team, identifying the best people for the job. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes. Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system. High level program management skills, including financial and budget management. Proven track record in raising HIV and TB related program funding from a diversity of donors.Ability to manage development of technical approach for proposals and foster new business leads and identify and act on potential new business opportunities. Ability to manage and foster donor and other stakeholder relationships. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability. Demonstrated emotional intelligence and ability to collaborate with colleagues. Proficiency in Microsoft 365. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency in French is highly preferred. Cultural humility and respect.
