A member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the incumbent plays a strategic and operational leading role in the organization, as he or she is responsible for the sound financial management of the organization and for the delivery of efficient, value-added, cost-effective services.

The Director will be a vital partner with the CFO and the Senior Leadership team in strategic decision-making, long-term organizational planning and operations as CARE Canada continues to enhance its capacity and continuously strive for best in-class practices.

WHAT YOU OFFER / ABOUT YOU

Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting supervisory role including responsibility for the full accounting cycle within an organization or business unit, demonstrating leadership and effective team management. Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (CA, CGA, or CMA) is required. Proficiency in overseeing financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and treasury management. Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and compliance with regulatory/statutory requirements, particularly in the non-profit or charity sector. Experience in budget development, forecasting, and resource allocation aligned with strategic priorities. Experience in managing the year-end audit process, coordinating with external auditors, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements. Demonstrated ability to manage a team, provide guidance, mentorship, and create a culture of continuous improvement and empowerment. Ability to think strategically, innovate, and provide strategic advice on resource allocation, risks, and opportunities to the CFO. Experience in developing, reviewing, implementing, and monitoring financial policies, procedures, and practices to improve efficiency and compliance. Fluency in English is required. Fluency in French is desired. Ability to collaborate effectively with various internal departments like Corporate Finance, Global Programs, Public Engagement, and others to ensure financial aspects align with organizational goals. Ability to liaise effectively with external stakeholders such as auditors, government agencies, and other CARE entities (CARE International, CARE USA) for financial reporting and compliance. Skills in financial analysis, decision-making, and providing insights to support strategic financial planning and decision processes. Knowledge and experience in managing cash balances, cashflow, and international/domestic payments through various platforms.
