We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for the upcoming USAID/Uganda Targeting the Learning Crisis activity. This position will be based in Kampala, Uganda and is contingent upon award to FHI 360.

Project Description

The USAID/Uganda basic education activityโ€”Targeting the Learning Crisis (TLC)โ€”seeks to utilize USAID/Ugandaโ€™s past programming and leverage the global evidence base to implement cost-effective, sustainable, and impactful programming to significantly improve math and reading outcomes for Ugandan primary students. The activity will provide programming to learners from pre-primary education to primary grade 5 (P5). The activity will emphasize targeted instruction and other evidence-based approaches to significantly improve math and reading outcomes.

Position Description

The DCOP works in close coordination with the Chief of Party (COP) and is responsible for managing the quality and timeliness of the projectโ€™s overall technical workstream. They will supervise the technical team, liaise with technical partners, relevant national stakeholders, beneficiaries and the donor, as needed.

The DCOP should have a deep understanding of the context of the Ugandan basic education system, as well as evidence-base practices to improve foundational literacy and numeracy acquisition amongst pre-primary and primary students. This should include, but not be limited to, experience with and knowledge of targeted instruction and Teaching at the Right Level.
