    Overview of the role

    ACAPS is looking at strengthening the quantitative data analysis capacity within the organisation. The successful candidate will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into decisions. The Data Scientist will work alongside ACAPS analysis teams in Geneva and the field to  maintain the ETL pipeline, implement the necessary changes, improve current analytical processes, ensuring that analysis is methodologically appropriate and robust.

    Tasks and responsibilities Data Analysis and Development

    • Identify, clean, and analyze humanitarian datasets using statistical techniques. Explore data for trends and patterns, with a focus on producing useful and meaningful results. Work with analysts to interpret the results in a humanitarian context.
    • Support the Data Services team in data visualization, including dashboard.
    • Maintain, tweak, further develop the API infrastructure.
    • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and bring in new data sources to support and strengthen analysis.
    • Develop and maintain ACAPS ETL pipeline, data management system, including maintaining databases, developing new ad hoc pipelines to bring in new data, automating processes to improve data collection, and developing systems to maintain data quality and accessibility, and improve analysis across the organisation.
    • Build and maintain interfaces for third-party access to ACAPS datasets, respecting data access controls and best practices.
       
      • Design, develop, and implement quantitative analysis methods to improve the quantitative aspects of ACAPS methodology, processes, and tools
      • Provide technical support, including training and support to ACAPS staff on data methods, data management, and data analysis.
      • Explore and innovate with the ACAPS technical team,to develop new products as required.

        External Representation

        • Present ACAPS’ analysis resultsto non-technical and policyorientated audiences
        • Contribute to and develop further ACAPS’ technical partnerships from within and beyond

          the humanitarian sector.

          • Represent ACAPS at differentanalysis and assessment fora, as required
