Introduction
The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people.

Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies. It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 216 projects in 129 countries and has committed USD 12.0 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Position Objective
The Corporate Performance and Transformation Lead, reporting to the Head of Policy and Strategy, will be responsible for managing the Secretariatโ€™s corporate work planning, performance reporting and identifying ways to optimize Secretariat performance in delivering the GCF Strategic Plan. The successful candidate will dissect data to understand what makes GCF tick, pinpoint areas for improvement, isolate key indicators to drive performance gains, and track overall implementation, working hand-in-hand with managers across the Secretariat. S/he will be a data-driven, analytical, systems thinker who develops a deep understanding of the GCF business and uses available performance data to generate insight and advise senior management. S/he will also deliver solutions to strengthen systems and practices for corporate work planning and KPI development, performance monitoring and data management, project management oversight, and Board reporting and accountability, based on deep knowledge of best practices. S/he will be a self-starting collaborator who succeeds in delivering results through effective networking, collaboration and influencing stakeholders across the Secretariat to drive continuous improvement and organizational excellence.

Please note: This is a role in the corporate strategy area of the GCF Secretariat; it is not focused on IT or HR transformation.

Purpose

  • Evolve systems, tools and practices for corporate work planning, performance monitoring, reporting and accountability that support collaborative, efficient, effective and agile Secretariat delivery of the GCF Strategic Plan
  • Generate insights from corporate performance data, periodic performance reviews, capability reviews, IEU evaluations, internal audits, risk control self-assessments, policy and programming experience to advise the executive and senior management on opportunities to optimize Secretariat performance
  • Create frameworks and tools to enable successful planning and execution of change initiatives to improve the Secretariatโ€™s performance and delivery of strategic priorities, embedding strong project management practices

    Engagement

    • Build effective networks, facilitate collaboration and influence senior and distributed managers across the Secretariat to build buy-in to improvement initiatives, and consolidate a culture of performance excellence and innovation
    • Engage and communicate widely across the Secretariat to understand the organizational pulse, gather feedback on progress and enable course correction
    • Co-design and build cross-Secretariat alignment behind initiatives to strengthen corporate performance systems and practices, and influence to effect change
    • Identify, develop, and foster relationships with industry thought leaders to apply the latest knowledge and best practice thinking

      Delivery

      • Drive delivery of a complex, multi-faceted, cross-Secretariat program of work, requiring project management of multiple parallel initiatives, prioritized in light of strategic priorities and resource availability
      • Manage regular tracking of corporate performance initiatives, and prepare analysis and advice for senior management, including on corrective action needed
      • Work with cross-Secretariat data and IT functions to strengthen corporate performance management systems and dashboards, enabling real-time automated access to performance metric data, and easy visualization for decision-makers
      • Develop the annual work programme of the Secretariat and prepare periodic reports to senior management and the GCF Board on Secretariat performance

        Requirements (Education, experience, technical competencies required of the job)

        • Masters or higher-level degree in business administration or another relevant field; or Bachelors degree plus 2 additional years of experience
        • 11 years or more relevant experience including in organizational strategy and/or performance management roles, with preference of experience in international organizations
        • Deep knowledge of corporate performance and project management frameworks and best practices, including KPI setting
        • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with high level of attention to detail and data-driven approach to planning and decision-making; PMP certificate is a plus
        • Excellent leadership, communication and influencing abilities including the ability to drive innovation and change in a constantly evolving environment
        • Proven ability to collaborate across diverse teams, agendas and perspectives, integrate inputs into a coherent plan of action, follow through on implementation of initiatives and problem-solve issues
        • Strong analytical skills and writing skills
        • Self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, be hands-on, and multi-task
        • Desire to make a difference in contributing to the mission of the worldโ€™s largest dedicated climate change fund
        • Ability to engage in abstract thinking and design thinking is an advantage
        • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language is an advantage
