OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

We are looking for an M&E Officer who will work from Paris to contribute to the effective implementation of the Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation framework (M&E) of joint the Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative (WPDI)-UNESCO programs aimed at promoting the roles of youth and women in peacebuilding and sustainable development.

Background

WPDI was founded in 2012 by artist, social activist Forest Whitaker, who is the UNESCO Special Envoy for Peace & Reconciliation as well as member of the United Nations Advocacy Group for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). WPDI is a non-governmental organization that operates in countries and regions impacted by violence and poverty in close partnership with UNESCO and other United Nations agencies, including UN Women. Our mission is to empower young women and men living in these vulnerable places to become peacemakers, leaders and entrepreneurs in their communities. We help them become (a) mediators who will address tensions and conflict between and within communities with competence and confidence, (b) community organizers who are equipped to reach out to other youth to undertake educational and cultural projects to promote peace, dialogue and tolerance, (c) entrepreneurs who can create economic opportunities for themselves and for their communities. The incumbent will notably be responsible for the reporting, monitoring and evaluation of activities undertaken jointly by UNESCO in South Sudan, South Africa, and Uganda.

The M&E Officer ensures the implementation of monitoring and reporting tools, focusing on achievement of the following results for our programs distributed in 18 locations across Uganda, South Sudan, South Africa, Mexico, France, and the United States:

Provision of assistance to the Management Team in the design of documents pertaining to narrative and financial reporting, partnerships, fund raising, strategic planning, etc. Review and revise existing monitoring and reporting tools to assist field office managers and teams as they discharge their M&E responsibilities Timely collection of regular reports from field office managers and teams Analysis and high-quality presentation of data generated on the activities of WPDI Provision of input for Management Team on the needs for evaluation based on agreement with donors and partners Support to Management Team and staff in identification, documentation, synthesis of lessons learned and best practices to be integrated into the M&E framework

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Masterโ€™s Degree in social sciences (Economics, Sociology, etc.), Statistic, Public/Non-Profit/Business Administration or other relevant fields of study would be desirable, but it is not a requirement.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of professional experience, preferably in the field of development.

Skills and Competences:

Proven ability to draft clearly and concisely and to produce high quality analysis and synthesis documents.

Excellent drafting skills in English

Ability to manage a heavy workload, paying close attention to detail and quality of work while meeting deadlines.

Very good IT skills, including in standard office software and in database management and data visualization.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to maintain trust-based working relations in a multicultural team.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to work in French and/or Spanish would be a plus.
