Program Overview

WRI Indonesia seeks to support the government, private sector, and communities in Indonesia to reduce its GHG emission through better management of its forest and land use, business operation, and livelihoods. We utilize new technology, multi-stakeholder approach, and research to provide the most up-to-date, accurate, and reliable tools, methodology, and data so that key stakeholders can take part in sustainable development. To advance this cause, WRI Indonesia is championing an ambitious program to transform land use planning and management to be more inclusive and sustainable through a project, namely The Enhancing Community Forest Tenure & Sustainable Livelihoods in Indonesia. The Project Initiative supports national and subnational government agencies to implement and monitor social forestry agenda in reducing GHG emission and improving climate resiliency through sustainable and inclusive forest management, while simultaneously supports indigenous and local communities to secure tenurial security and develop sustainable livelihoods and business models.

Through these initiatives, we aim to build a movement among government agencies, companies, NGO/CSOs, communities, and society to enhance sustainable and equitable forest and land use management in Indonesia. The Community Development Facilitator will provide facilitation and stakeholder engagement at the community level, provide technical and operational aspects, assist research in the prioritized sites of Aceh provinces and support the Program Leads and Managerโ€™s in managing program/projects within the scope of WRI Indonesiaโ€™s strategy.

Job Highlight

The Community Development and Sustainable Livelihood Facilitator will be responsible to provide technical and operational aspects in implementing and managing WRIโ€™s key initiatives/portfolios in the prioritized sites and districts. The main responsibility will include: implementing project plan; conducting and facilitating regular discussions; empowering the community groups on forest planning, business development and management together with local communities and community groups, government agencies, and relevant institutions in the prioritized areas; assisting and organizing events and engagements related to the implementation of The Enhancing Community Forest Tenure & Sustainable Livelihoods (NICFI-IPLC).

He/she will work on stakeholder mapping, socio โ€“ economic and livelihood assessment, geospatial technical Assistant, facilitation process to promote social forestry, including field data collection, and reporting, to formulate recommendation on improved land use governance and community livelihood in the focused area. He/she will also provide capacity building and technical assistances for community groups to promote sustainable forest and land use management, enhancement livelihood as well as maintain good relations with key stakeholders.

The Community Development and Sustainable Livelihood Facilitator will be based in Bireun and Pidie Jaya District, Daerah Istimewa Aceh. He/ she will report to the South Sumatera and Aceh Senior Program Lead. He/she will liaise closely with the regional team, and other key personnel of the projects, partners who implementing similar programs, as well as relevant government agencies, local authorities, and NGO/CSOs that will contribute to achieving targeted impact of WRI portfolios.
